Roon/Qobuz => Yggy GS2 => Jot 2 (Balanced) = Focal Clear OG

These guys released 5 albums of new material on the same day. No interviews, no tours, no live performances........ever

I think you'll find that it's not Dire Straits, it's an Italian tribute band called Italian Dire Straits that have been around for the last 15 years or so.

Fear Inoculum (2019) by TOOL - It was well worth waiting thirteen years for this album, it has a lot of the magic of Lateralus while at the same time sounding like quite a leap forward. All of the main songs are ridiculously strong and it's all well recorded, it's just a superb listen. COVID is kicking my ass at the moment and rather than aim my brain fog at something new I wanted to go with something I absolutely love. So it was in with the SMSL stack and the D7200's to make the most of Justin Chancellor's amazing bass playing, specially on Pneuma, my favourite track. :darthsmile:

The sun is up and I'm barely winding down for some shut eye! 🤣 Right now I'm kicking back next to my wife so the closed back DCA Stealths got the call and they're being driven by the GS-X Mini with the Gustard R26 decoding all the bits and pieces.

At the top of my queue is fox capture plan's (yes, they use all lowercase letters in their name) 2017 release entitled Fragile. This album is an absolutely great melding of modern electronic based atmospheric soundscapes and contemporary jazz. The drummer and bassist can really lay down some swingin' rhythms while the pianist and occasional violinist create some truly beautiful melodies over the top. These guys are one of my go-to artists for chillin' out to. The music just takes me to a very relaxed place that few other bands/artists can match.

Ey, fancy seeing you around here! Just wonder what you are up to nowadays when listening to Playing God. Hope you are all good wherever you are.

Voltage differences can matter, both in terms of output volume and in terms of the Roger’s input sensitivity (which affects distortion). But just glancing at the SMSL and R7 specs, I wouldn’t expect to hear much difference between them since you’re running both into a tube amp whose audible distortion profile is going to override any of the subtle differences that might exist between the two squeaky-clean delta-sigma DACs. In other words, differences might exist in how those two DACs sound, but you are very unlikely to hear the differences using that tube amp. You need a much greater delta (in price and/or architecture) between the DACs you’re comparing if you want to use that amp to A/B them.
Excellent explanation, thanks a lot 👍
I'll switch to the Violectric V200 for comparisons going forward, and see if so can dig out my old multimeter and work out some voltages ⚡
I know the difference between these two DACs might not be huge, but I honestly did expect to hear something change, when switching so fast between them.

Hey bro! I'm back in Europe doing more touring for the next few months before I head back to the States right before summer. Right now, I'm trying to get a few hours sleep before we have to get ready to play again tonight for New Year's Eve, but so far I haven't quite been able to turn off yet. How's life with you?

R7 to SMSL or directly to V200 and lastly into the HEKS.
Still trying to hear a difference between the DAC's, this time using some very nice electronic music with lots of small details and huge soundscape 👍
