Red (1974) by King Crimson - After watching the In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50 documentary this evening, I was only going to be listening to King Crimson tonight. This is their seventh album and at the time was their lowest charting record, though it has sold steadily over the years and is regarded very highly. Fripp disbanded the band two weeks before the album was released, as he wanted to go on a twelve month sabbatical at mystic, John G. Bennett's institute - it ended up becoming a seven year hiatus and with the loss of John Wetton from the band. It just had to be my Grado RS-1x for this, there is just so much going on in the background, so I needed a detail monster.

Currently kicking it in my hotel room resting up after all the holiday festivities and a bunch of traveling. I've got the Hifiman Edition XS running off the Schiit Lyr (Amperex ECC88s for tubes) with the Schiit Modi Multibit 2 pulling DAC duties.

For music, I've got Scale the Summit's 2015 effort entitled V at the top of my queue. The musicianship and production displayed on this album are really something to behold. As a drummer, I absolutely love listening to the intricate guitar melodies interwoven with insanely precise rhythm work from the drummer and bassist. This album is chock full of crazy time signature changes, layered and overlapping fills and melodic interchanges, and a plethora of musical techniques that are a delight to rock out to. These guys really know how to put on a show for the ears! Count me as a big fan.

To those about to rock, I salute you! 🤘😎
