For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

(Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd) (1973) by Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sixteen year old me became an out and out southern rock fan the first time I heard I Ain't The One on the radio and the album followed very soon after. I can remember getting home from town, putting the record on my deck, lying on my bed and getting completely lost in the music - I was still listening to the album twelve hours later after forgetting to go out for the evening. It has to be one of the greatest debut albums of all time, there's not a weak song on there and it's pretty well crammed with classics. As for my favourite track, I can't decide between Simple Man and Freebird, two of the finest rock songs ever committed to vinyl.

R7, Roger and HEKS.

So, I wanted to listen to the Dark side version today, but I had to stop a few tracks in.
This sound super compressed, to the point where I think I hear distortion in the bass heavy busy parts of the tracks? Thought there was an issue with my gear at first, but when I switched back to the Bright side, all was good.
Anyone else got this issue with the Dark side version? Tried both Qubuz and Tidal and it's present on both services. 😔
Playing it now through my Denon AH-D7200's and it sounds extremely good but then the Denons thrive on bass and sub-bass

You don't hear any difference between the Dark and Bright side?
Its not an issue with my gear, as it happens specifically on the Dark side album. All other music is fine 🤔

Switching between bright/dark versions of Panopticom the dark side hits harder in the sub-bass, there's a real rumble to it but doesn't sound wrong to me - and that's with a staggered 4.5db bass shelf added in EQ, which I always apply to everything (I like a bit of bass). Maybe it's just that my 66yr old ears don't hear as well as they used to

@Lindholdt I didn't have a chance to listen to it again using headphones, but I've been listening to it using my speaker setup: Audiolab 6000CDT via coax > Rokcna WaveLight in NOS setting. The dark side is IMHO more compressed and that could give on particular cans a feeling you are getting.

Qobuz > Burson C3R > Koss Porta Pro w Yaxi Pads
If someone would want to buy a headphone for less than 50€, i'd still recommend the Porta Pro's without any hesitation. Still a supremely enjoyable sound signature and they scale surprisingly well.

After the Yaxi Pads, that's the next thing i'd recommend them to get... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I light also be extra sensitive to this kind of sound, as it's a huge red flag in my job. So I might react too strong for what it is.
Anyway, as long as the music is enjoyable for most, then its all good, and I'll just stick to the Bright side. Which I like a lot 👍

MP145 with XINHS copper cable > v50 > FLAC

Pink Floyd - The Wall

The MP145 has become my go to for rock/guitars. The planar timbre is usually a con in other planar IEMs, but it’s truly one of the MP145’s strong suits. It adds such an energetic sheen to the treble, while not becoming piercing (using the red nozzles). I can get lost in these for hours, which is quite the achievement for me as my attention span is.. sparse. I am using Divinus Velvet tips with them.

One of the better IEM deals in the market recently imo.
