After the first hours with the Utopia 2022, first statement from my side.
So i want to mention, that i had the Utopia OG several times. About a year ago, last time.
So i can only make a comparison from memory. I found the Utopia OG sensational. Utopia stands for itself.
However, i didn't particularly like the bass, especially at high volumes.
I found it to be (it's hard for me to find the right words), a bit compressed, "unfree",
and with too little presence in the
sub-bass. My hope was, that there would be an improvement in this regard, especially with the new horneycomb grill.
And yes, the bass is better. Significantly better. With the new Utopia, i find the bass to be, yes, almost perfect.
The Utopias 2022 bass has everything. Punch, Slam, Texture, Resolution.
As already mentioned, this statement is made without having made a direct a/b comparison. From experience, however,
i can say that certain impressions,
that you have are burned into your memory. And so with the bass of the Utopia OG.
A year ago, I switched from the Clear Mg,
to the Utopia OG (both identical FR), and during the first session with the Utopia,
i thought: oookkk, the bass seems thinner and more powerless, than that of the MG...
I'm imagining it thought me.
That can not be. Then i passed the Utopia on to my buddy, and to my astonishment, he said after just two minutes: wow, the bass seems somehow thinner than the MGs. So he had exactly the same impression that I had.
It is probably the case that the Utopia OG is simply more precise. Nevertheless, in terms of bass, especially in direct comparison with the MG, the Utopia OG seemed unsatisfactory. Whatever.
I had the impression right from the start, that the honeycomb-grill, had a very positive influence, on the overall sound.
This has also been confirmed, with the new Utopia.
