So far, so not good?

Maybe the stock tips hold them back? Had that with my last two, JVC spiral dots on the FXT200 and the stock tips on the E80 were just plain bad choices that did not do justice to the earphones. They keep saying a really rich midrange so a thin one is not quite in line with what they keep spouting off about :)

Time will reveal all things, lol. Keep them impressions comin' good or bad.

I'm using the Foam stock tips. I have not used the silicon versions, because the will not work for me.

I'll try using some Comply tips and see if there is any difference.

But yes, so far not so good for me.   I'll keep messing with them.

The shape of these do look like they could use the Hifiman/Grado big bi-flanges. Or other long tips.

They sound great with PH/ VDGG , King Crimson, etc?

The Classics?

Yes they're great. Match more obvious 'rock'open phones such as my DT990 & SR80e for this music.

An example is 'Over' as you know a very varied and great Hammill. Handle everything from the proto punk aggressive of the opener to the unbelievablely beautiful tender Side of the Looking Glass with equal aplomb. This album also contains Lost & Found a severe test of bass and shows the Focal to have fantastic bass. Terrific impact zero distortion. Head pummelling (as only this song can) if required. Just sounds correct.

Great, I always wanted to have a closed headphone and this one will be it.

You could still considerate DT150 as well. More specialised and demanding though!

Back to the Sphears I think!

Although being fortunate enough to own the GR10 (not to mention IE80) I think you're probably not in need of the Sphears!?!

Edit. You beat me to that one!

And the price: £100. Not bad at all. Should vary by country.

The Focal Spirit Professional is one of my favorite headphones, but I will probably never buy the Sphear. When it comes to IEMs, I'm mainly interested in high-end CIEMs.
They are high-end for the majority of people normally listen with their free buds. The "low" price can be explained by the production location, which isn't France for sure.

As far as in ears go i stick to my IE80, just listen Sleaford Mods new album and here the IE80 rocks like hell

If you like them you really should try The Fall. Theyve been doing similar quirky unique punk for 35 years and 30 odd albums. They're a very British underground institution

Their 'singer' Mark E Smith is a big fan of Peter Hammill/ VDGG funnily enough (who says Punk killed Prog !) . Both bands were long time favorites of the late, great John Peel.

Try 'the Peel Sessions' (an amazingly good value Qobuz download a.t.m.) or '50,000 Fall Fans can't be Wrong' CD retrospective for starters.

I know the Fall very well and have a big amount of their recorded output, but The Peel Sessions are the best as most songs sounds better than the orginal studio versions. John Peel's producer was a genius.
