Focal Elegia - what do you think?

I'm having a tough time figuring out how to best EQ my Elegias on an Android for use on Spotify since system-wide EQ apps don't let you change frequencies. Anyone have suggestions for stock android eq settings?

Download the App called Wavelet. Run the app in the background, plug in your headphones, and play a song on Spotify. Wavelet should automatically detect it. Then, AutoEQ should pop up in the Wavelet app. Type in a search for Elegia and turn it on. I believe it uses Oratory’s EQ profile. Regardless, it makes these headphones sound amazing IMO.

I actually have tried that already--it runs AutoEQ settings which are a bit different than oratory and I find that while it makes the elegias sound clearer it also creates a metallic effect on some of the higher frequencies

Well, I agree that the EQ applied should be somewhat V-shaped to compensate for the mid-forward tuning, but after applying the EQ Resolve did, it made them overall V-shaped (so it went over what I would consider balanced).

Curious how you find my initial EQ profile? I made some more changes today on Equalizer APO. I usually use PulseEffects because I'm mostly on Linux, and I noticed there are some differences in how the tonality changes with the frequency bands between the two programs. If you're interested and have some feedback, I'm open to hearing it! Note that I don't wear glasses so the bass EQ is just right for me.

I haven't gotten to trying the Elegia with your EQ settings but I'll get back to you as soon as I do. I'll try to get to it today.

This is currently what I have with my current mood on a Saturday evening. Note I am using AutoEQ points but I adjust them based on ear so they won't be exactly the same as AutoEQ's graph.
Preamp: -6.2 dB
Filter: ON PK Fc 87 Hz Gain -1.5 dB Q 2.25
Filter: ON PK Fc 1045 Hz Gain -4.8 dB Q 0.73
Filter: ON PK Fc 3735 Hz Gain 0.8 dB Q 2.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 9761 Hz Gain 4 dB Q 1.69
Filter: ON PK Fc 1759 Hz Gain -2.5 dB Q 4.49
Did you mean to put "1759 Hz" last in your EQ settings or is that supposed to be something like "17590 Hz"?

No that wasn't a typo, it was 1759 Hz. It wasn't in correct order. I've updated it a bit more and I'm close to being final on this one below.

Preamp: -6.2 dB
Filter: ON LS Fc 87 Hz Gain 1.80 dB
Filter: ON PK Fc 307 Hz Gain -1.2 dB Q 1.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 1045 Hz Gain -4.2 dB Q 0.73
Filter: ON PK Fc 3735 Hz Gain 1.5 dB Q 2.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 9761 Hz Gain 2.2 dB Q 1.69
Filter: ON PK Fc 1759 Hz Gain -3.8 dB Q 4.49
Filter: ON PK Fc 2159 Hz Gain -1.2 dB Q 5.17
Filter: ON PK Fc 12000 Hz Gain 2.0 dB Q 1.41

You're killing me with the out of order list.

Blame the original autoEQ values for that. Further, they've updated their values actually so I had recently made changes as well. I encourage you to use their values, play around with them, and add your own frequency bands and Q values for optimum enjoyment.

Oh, I just wanted to try your EQ like you asked, and I did. It's a little too v-shaped for my liking, at least for music but, it might be good for movies.

Interesting to hear you would describe it as V-shaped, cause I think it's more U-shaped or on the warm side of neutral. At least I don't consider it V-shaped to the likes of the TH-X00 series. Funny enough, I found Resolve's first EQ to be more V-shaped than mine. Just goes to show us that we perceive sound signatures differently and neutral in subjective terms is a moving goal post.

Any tips on how to determine which earpad goes on each side? I've had Dekoni on for a while and wanting to go back to stock but can't remember which way the go. Looks like the angle of the pad changes. Thanks!

Nope, stock pads are interchangeable

So I've just gone back to the stock pads as I've started to struggle wearing the Dekoni sheepskin pads for too long without getting a bit hot. The stock pads are very very comfy IMO.
The sound profile definitely threw me initially going back however I've just got 'wavelet' for Android and using the AutoEQ Elegia profile and few little tweaks on the graphic EQ, I am absolutely loving these right now! This is just with Samsung USB-C dongle through Tidal.

DO ALL FOCAL HEADPHONES SQUEAK, CREAK AND RATTLE???!!! I sent my creaking Elears in for a warranty headband replacement before Christmas and they came back improved, but still speaking and rattling in the right ear cup. My follow up emails to Focal service have gone unanswered for three days so far. Now I just noticed that my Elegias have started creaking far worse than the Elears ever did! This is just unbelievable. Does this eventually happen to all Focals? So glad I resisted the temptation to buy Utopias!

Haven't had this issue, but my Elegias still have very low (like probably under 20) hours on them, so I don't know. Maybe it will become an issue later.
