Focal Elegia - what do you think?

How is the Elegia with the ZX300 (single ended)? I have a ZX507 so I was curious. Also, do you think the Apple lightning dongle would be a good source?
Sorry, but I can't remember. I only use it with my desktop system. I might have given it a quick run through my DAP, but if so, the memory is not sticking out.

What's the difference between these pads? They're basically called the same thing but have different graphs.

Dekoni Stellia Custom: https://dekoniaudio.com/product/dek...es-replacement-ear-pads-for-focal-headphones/

Dekoni Stellia Limited Edition: https://dekoniaudio.com/product/b-s...ia-replacement-ear-pads-for-focal-headphones/
Same thing, the Limited Edition came out and due to popular demand, Dekoni brought it back as the Custom. The measurements in both graphs are the same for the pad itself, but differs for the "Stock".

I'm still waiting on my balanced XLR from another maker in the states, not as fancy but basically the same core materials, Canare cable and Neutrik connectors but even more affordable.
I just use my Elegia with my Focal Elex XLR balanced cable. It's a huge improvement over the stock cable but I don't know if Focal sells these cables separately.

As the Elegia is a closed back those would be ballpark figures and I can imagine it is extremely difficult in reproducing similar results once placed upon an individual heads, there are just too many variables with shape and getting a proper seal. A few reviewers actually mentioned they could not get consistent results when measuring, anyway all fun and educational.
Although I'm fairly satisfied with the stock pads for reasonably priced pad rolling I may order some of these, although my experience with 3rd party pads has been hit and miss, mostly misses. : (

Went looking for a reasonable priced 8-10' balanced cable for the Elegia, weary of most of the offerings available so I was really happy to have just discovered these...https://www.ebay.com/itm/175215369324....and with "Neutrik" 3.5mm TS Gold Plated Connectors, "Canare L2B2AT" Cable, Neutrik 4-Pin XLR Gold Plated....what more could one ask for. :L3000:

Will report back once received, it's mostly to facilitate having the Elegia and K872 (stricktly single ended) hooked up at the same time on the BHA-1 and only expecting "maybe a slight" electrical improvement going balanced but one never knows.
Balanced cable arrived....had to slightly trim back the shrink wrap on the sleeve to accommodate the Focal but IMHO an honest decently constructed "homemade style"....weight and size is good and the Canare LBB2AT and Neutrik Gold XLR are a solid combination for signal purity....not too sure if there is an increase in sound quality although the Bryston BHA-1 has a reportedly lower noise floor with the balanced output and with the added voltage (totally not needed with this 32ohm phone) ended up switching to the "Low Gain" on the amp. Overall highly recommended, one can pay more for a "Boutique" style cable but returns in sound quality will be nil. :dt880smile:

I will ask my friends for advice. I would like to upgrade my Elegia I choose between Focal Stellia but also Meze Liric. What would you recommend me to buy? I listen to Rock, Methal, Ambient and the like. All in Flac, or 24 bit copy. So stellia or Liric,
thank you for everything

I listened to lyric & stellia at the high-end in munich.
I would say, stellia is technically a better headphone.
I did not compare them side by side, so i cant say anything about the tuning, butt stellia impressed me more, by far more.

Thank you for your recommendation, so I'll look for Stellia. Another general question. Does Stellia already have a better solution to the head-bursting problem described by other Focal headphones?
