I received my Elears today but I won't be able to share impressions until I get a new pair.... I was so excited today to hear them.... What a bummer.

What's the problem with them?

I think the new Orpheus is a gimmick and literally only exists for marketing benefits. Just my opinion.

like its predecessor, the "orpheus 2" is another example of sennheiser's commitment to purist r&d and its capacity to invest in the manufacture of a sota product, the sales of which are unlikely to offset the cost of its capital investment. to dismiss it as a marketing gimmick strikes me as uninformed opinion tbh.

Man, are people touchy about pricing discussion around here! I mentioned another product to illustrate a point about flagship products and pricing, which is relevant to the Utopia. Sorry for posting something that apparently wasn't of interest, but I didn't think it was off topic or inappropriate. Let me go clean up my posts for you.

aren't they. i didn't think it was ot fwiw.

Same cable as for the McIntosh MHP-1000 headphone or the Sony MDR-Z7.

If Focal released the Elear and Utopia for half its price, they would probably make twice or three times the revenue as they would knock everything off and everyone would go for those headphones and both would hit straight into a different market. Elear is still priced to a level way above Sennheiser Momentum and even HD650. Utopia is priced above HE1000 and similar as LCD4.

Price of the Elear is spot IMO. Anything else would devalues its performance.

Mmm.....I'm also very much interested in your listening impressions of the Utopia vis-a-vis the LCD 3 (have the 3F mysélf). Looking forward.....

No comparison... LCD3 is the BMW M3, Utopia is the Lamborghini HURACÁN.

A quick video on Elear

Mmmm....love the video. If picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a thousand pictures. Thanks for posting. Now, I'm convinced that the Utopia is a very, very, very good-looking headphone. No ugly angles at all.. if it were a piece of real estate, the Utopia would have  tons of curb appeal. Christmas in July can't be here soon enough.....

I am also curious if the Utopia scales better with tubes or SS.
The Utopia scales very nicely. It boils down to listening preferences of course as most high performance cans do. What's great is they are easy to drive making it match friendly.
