In the last week or so Ive come extremely close to buying 2 used examples of my current bucket list IEM's. The Ely & The Bird. I can only really afford one without having to let go of any of my current IEM's. What's made me hesitant besides the obvious is the thought of VE bringing out something like the Elysium Extended after Ive made my purchase and exhausted my audio budget.

All good things comes to those who wait

Here's hoping it's priced too over the top

Looking closer at the photo of the Ely Extended it looks like it could be semi-open back? I don't think the smaller Halc DD required any venting but maybe the larger 9.2mm one does? Either way, this should work wonders for staging I'd imagine.
That's a good shout, especially given what looks like bits of mesh behind those slits on the faceplate. But, those could also just be the cut-out mirror design that they've done on quite a few of their customs. They do it with a laser plotter, and they're - to my knowledge - the absolute best in the industry at it.

It does look like the slits on the EXT are on the outer layer of the faceplate, though, while these are more so on the inner layer. So, you could very well be correct.

Sadly that part of the conversation got lost in translation :p

Pre op tomorrow, op a week today. After months of waiting (at least after this waits for ciems will be a bit easier!)it suddenly seems very real.

Sadly my father is very ill (non covid related at least) in hospital, but the family have had ‘that’ chat and agreed that no matter what happens, dad would want me to keep the appointment after waiting so long.
When it rains, it pours, sorry your family is facing so many trials!!!

That is a mighty appealing driver config for that new Elysium. Almost certainly going to be priced out of my comfort zone though. And given there's no impressions, this is one that for me needs multiple reviews and likely a demo before even considering a purchase.

Loving the EVA Unit 1 colorway too 😏
Yeah, I was about to say the aesthetic is a lot more niche - anime-inclined, in this case - than I would've anticipated for a statement, flagship piece. I don't know what the material will look like in person, but I must say that I prefer the original ELYSIUM's design by a mile at the moment. Perhaps, they're saving up a more European signature design for the custom. If not, you could always just get the Titan Blaze option and call it a Saint Seiya colourway. :p

Saint Seiya colourway would be really nice too actually 😂

But yeah, I quite like how this EXT looks like, but that’s definitely the weeb in me talking haha

A little digging, here you go:

Oh boy, I think the only thing that might draw any consideration from me away from the Traillii would be the Ely with DD bass (at least that's what I thought back in March of this year, remember posting it somewhere in the 64 Audio thread after I had the Ely on tour).

If I'm honest, the design on the EXT isn't appealing to me, especially considering how much I love the Ely design. None of that matters if it sounds good, though!

Likewise, although this is the first VE IEM that's got me genuinely interested. 2 DDs and estats seems to the be the way of the future for DD-driven IEMs. Will be interesting to see how VE tune this - with some proper meat on the bones, or light and bright like the OG Ely. Part of me hopes for the latter, so I don't have to worry my wallet. 😉
