FLC Technology FLC8 and FLC8s Impressions Thread

I really don't like it when companies release their replaceable cables with proprietary cables. If you're going to release a cable don't make it so only you can sell it, and extort people for their money. Shure cables are like 30 bucks and they apparently fit on a ton of headphones (saying only 30 bucks is sort of an oxymoron but whatever).

Technically the cables aren't proprietary but just harder to find. The pins on the cables are identical to the old UE TriFi and SuperFi pins because Forrest used to work for UE, IIRC.

And FLC's cables aren't sold at an extortion price. $100 for a pure silver OCC cable is extremely reasonable.

FLC8S at massdrop for $279.99 (potentially) currently at $289.99

Man, at that price they are tempting... even though I had to get rid of mine due to fit issues.  I still miss them.  I wish the custom version would come up for a discounted price ...

Thanks.

By the way, I did test the Fiio cable (reversed on the left side) and it works correctly.
I see that Fiio is selling (at least) two 2.5mm TRRS cables with 2-pins connectors :
- RC-UE2B , the one I have : https://www.amazon.com/Balanced-Ultimate-M-Audio-Earphones-RC-UE2B/dp/B01HP9LD9A/ref=lp_2529423011_1_16?srs=2529423011&ie=UTF8&qid=1490180148&sr=8-16
- RC-78B : http://penonaudio.com/FiiO-RC-78B

Does this second model (RC-78B) fit the FLC8S ? its compatibility is : Westone UM3XRC / W4R / NF Audio NF2 / NF3 / NF4 / JH Audio JH13 / JH 16 / Earsonics SM64

The one I bought (RC-UE2B) is supposed to be compatible with Triple.Fi  (so why not FLC8S ??)
Has anyone some link explaining better the different 2 pins cables on the market ?

I have bought it at $ 299 from this guy : http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORREST-FLC8S-Earphones-HiFi-Triple-Driver-Hybrid-2BA-Dynamic-In-Ear-Earphones/111907647562?_trksid=p2045573.c100505.m3226&_trkparms=aid%3D555014%26algo%3DPL.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D41375%26meid%3De3e399e5b4024e78a877bf91aa3a0169%26pid%3D100505%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26

If you don't want to wait for a drop, he's trustable. Shipping included, and it was shipped in 24h with (first class) DHL service (with a rather low value declared for customs).

Per the link it has 0.78 mm pins, too large for flc 8s. I found this cable from eBay seller aeroflugel... can't tell if he just has one that is being sold used or if he makes/retails them. Any experience? http://m.ebay.com/itm/272562341199?_mwBanner=1

From what I've read, the standard TF10 pins (0.75mm) are marginally too thick and could stretch out the port (0.74mm). People have suggested you can sand it down, but I personally don't know how feasible this is.

Besides the LMUE Silver Cable (and the FLC8 / FLC8s default cables) the SG Audio Hive cables seem to be the only ones explicitly claiming to fit the FLC8/S:

I sent one of my cables to SG Audio Hive to recable to fit the FLC8S and it fits well after some adjustment. He has done a number of cables for the FLC8S and is your best option for aftermarket cables.

LMUE recently had a 10% sale I think included FLC stuff... idk if it applied to the customs though. They have sales not too infrequently, but not always on the same items, might get lucky in one of them.

Yeah, I'd prefer to order from LMUE, their service is as good as it gets.  Massdrop customer support usually consists of passing you off to someone else who may or may not care that you have a problem.
