E2000 or 3000 would be a good replacement. Depends on the signature you'd like. Some like the E2000 better.

Hi jant71, Thanks for the suggestion, the E2000 looked nice but too expensive to use in subway. I need a cheap pair that lasts long, with good isolation and nice sound. I never do critical listening, and I like a more Laid Back Sound signature. I think I'll try the Rock Zircon again, this time with a little mod (using spring from a ball point pen as strain relief to the L plug), for extra durability .
