This is amazing, I have just discovered firefox. This is a much better browser than Opera (I'm using Opera and Internet Explorer). Hell much much better than Internet Explorer.

I don't think I'm gonna use my I.E. ever again. Just wondering, is this probably the best (free) browser available, or there is something considered even better than Firefox ?

By the way, Im so happy with this firefox, so many options, and it's very user friendly, lots of useful little features too.

And is it just me, or Firefox loads up faster than I.E ?

Welcome to the revolution

I've been using Firefox for over a year now and have never looked back. Yes, I believe (at least on my few systems) that Firefox loads faster than IE. Less junk in the trunk.

From what I've found, it's the best browser flavor out there. Add on a bunch of the plugins and I'm in heaven.

If you don't need a calendar in your email client, try Thunderbird. Me likey too.

I wish Opera's pop/adblocker was up to par with Firefox's, because outside of a few sites Opera cant load properly (dwindling with each release), Opera is notably better than Firefox. A few more useful features, much faster, and uses much less system resources. Firefox is nearly as bad as IE in that last respect.

I switched from Opera when version 7.x came out and crashed every other time

On any decent machine, the speed difference between Firefox and Opera 7 was negligible.

Opera does not have more useful features that Firefox cannot have- just get (or code) the extentions for what you need

Firefox loads slower on my machine than IE but surfing speed is a little faster than IE. It keeps a lot of trash off of my computer and I generally prefer it to any other browser.

Try iRider.. it's still an IE shell.. but an extremely good one at that. Especially when browsing forums.. comparison shopping.. it's just awesome.

I wish Firefox could use the same type of UI, but I think it's been patented by the developers of iRider. I do have to say, I hate the icons and the graphical styling of the browser itself, but the UI "functionality" side is what's really addictive.

Firefox is the best, simply put. There is ZERO competition.
Faster, stronger, more powerful, feature-filled, scalable, customization-friendly, open source -- what else could you ask for?

I've been using Mozilla browsers since the Alpha of Mozilla Browser (even befre Firebird!

) and have never looked back. And, on Linux, I have a large amount of good browsers available for use.. Firefox is the one I turn to ALL the time.

Yep firefox is amazing, especially the tabbed browsing; that along makes it way better than IE. That said, sometimes I have to revert back to IE as some websites show up a bit wierd on firefox, but this is still a rare occurence.

I think the latest opera is goo, but haven't tried it.

I love Firefox (it could be faster though on page-loading). Beats out IE for me, though I still have to use IE for ActiveX sites to watch videos. Netscape 8.0 is a tad bit faster than Firefox for me though.

But recently it won't work with sites like gemm.com or Audiogon. When I click a link or try to search, it just says "stopped" at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. If I open the link in a new window/tab, it works. Anyone know why?

I like it a lot. been using it for ~6 months. I run zone alarm and spybot with firefox and its the best combo Ive found so far for spyware and adware.

Opera is not a truly FREE program nor open source. You lose a lot there.

Firefox isn't buggy - Windows is the problem if that's happening.
You know why Firefox works so well on Linux? Because Linux isn't trying to PURPOSELY put in things that will make Firefox crash in their new "update patches".

And remember that Firefox is a Linux program, NOT Windows... binary builds only for Windows

They're doing pretty damned well when you consider that.

Ein? Do you mean, that Linux distros are putting things in that will purposely make it more reliable? Or that the dark lord of the universe has decide that Windows will be buggy for Firefox?

I use Debian, FreeBSD, OS X, Firefox is flawless on all of them. What gives dude?
