Use the red atomEh I don’t really hear Kr5 as the best all rounder - I’d give that to the NE4. Kr5 mid range lacks resolution because the upper mids are borderline non existent. On some tracks it just doesn’t sound good at all. For me it’s the most specialist set of the trio. The Xe6 works well as an all rounder but it’s a very colored sound, if you don’t like the warmth and body in the lower mids then it won’t be for you.
I think the Kr5 has the widest stage from the bunch but I do not hear great depth on it compared to the Xe6. The bass on it is very nice, not sure “bigger” is a good way to describe it though.

Just shy of 6 months of ownership with these babies and they still leave me in awe.
I was suggested to try the red module with the WM1Z-M2 as it was a good match for the DAP, but I think it's slowly becoming my favorite module for the XE6 even with the N8ii! There's a bit more separation between the notes without sacrificing the beautiful bass on the IEMs. The sub bass is still plenty deep and present with fantastic texture and air. I highly suggest trying it out if you have the CIEMs! Wish I would have spent more time with them a long time ago on red. The level of detail these IEMs have with such a big bodied and rich tuning is remarkable.

Almost! I got the universal right after New Years and the CIEM I ordered the day after. Crazy right!? lol.

Nice! I've recently settled on the black module instead of the stock silver on my custom Ne4. Similarly, I think it adds some separation and air without sacrificing bass much if at all. Tempted to try red on the Neon!
What Ear Tips are you using?

It's been a while since I've followed this thread. Glad to hear there's so much excitement around the Ne, Kr and Xe. The glass face plates are really pretty. The matte face plates aren't to my taste, but it's really cool FiR thought to offer the option. Obviously, there are fans. Always thinking, those guys.
Back to a previously asked question: for anyone who's had both universal and custom versions, does the bone conduction work better with the custom? It seems like the more intimate contact with your ear canal would enhance the bone conduction over the universal implementation.
Not that these are necessarily comparable, but I wasn't wowed by the UM MEST bone conduction. From somebody who's heard both the M and Frontier series: what does the bone conduction bring the "simple" dynamic driver doesn't? I've read it described as "feeling the bass", which I can understand. Is it as simple as that (by which I do not mean to imply it's just a gimmick, but is there more to it)? I mean, one recent post compared it to having a subwoofer in your ear, which might be pretty cool. I prefer well-implemented dynamic driver bass to balanced armature for the visceral sensation, so enhancing that could be a good thing. But does it make other, previously unnoticed details come through as well?

Has anyone/can anyone compare the Ne4 or Xe6 to the 64 Trio? Haven't seen this comparison done yet (or I'm bad at finding things) and wondered how they'd stack up against each other given the sound signature seems somewhat similar.

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but the BCD in the MEST feels like it influences imaging and somewhat the midrange - the BCD driver in the NF FiR series affects pretty much entirely the bass. On the Kr5 I also hear improved height which might be due to how low it positions the bassIt's been a while since I've followed this thread. I'll chime in as I'm curious as well, I think the question was about any perceived differences from Kinetic Bass between the universal vs CIEM of the Frontier IEMs? I would assume that CIEM versions would give you the best experience of this, but I too am keen for any direct comparisons.I'm not sure if I understand your question, but the BCD in the MEST feels like it influences imaging and somewhat the midrange - the BCD driver in the NF FiR series affects pretty much entirely the bass. Oh right UIEM vs CIEM - I owned them about a week apart, and I'd say that the KB is very noticeable on the universals as well - I was stunned by the uni Kr5. I'd say that the CIEM only marginally improves in the lowest subbass regions and transmitting that texture there as well.I'll chime in as I'm curious as well, I think the question was about any perceived differences from Kinetic Bass between the universal vs CIEM of the Frontier IEMs? It's a bit better, but if you aren't too sure if the tuning is for you, go for the UIEM. The Kr5 and Xe6 both resonate with me and get ridiculous listening time, so not having resale when I stop using them at some point doesn't feel particularly wasteful
I noticed a lot more difference in the treble of the universal vs the custom, I heard the uni Kr5 as a lot brighter than the CIEM. I think @aaf evo heard them as very similar though, so it might be down to ear anatomy.
Looks like Fir is finally announcing the FR measurement dongle in NAMM today. Have been waiting for this for 2-3 years since they showed the pic!
I have the IEC coupler clone that needed to be used with my MBP, but the dongle being able to use with your phone is so much more portable/handy.
