FiiOxJadeAudio KA1/KA11 Compact Portable DAC and Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread

I'd be interested in comparisons between the iBasso DC03 Pro and KA11. Also, what is the KA11's default digital filter, given that I'd be stuck with that if I'm using it with my iPhone?

I coulda swore it was set to the slow roll off phase compensated filter when it was new, but when I reset the KA11 settings the minimum phase fast roll off filter is what's showing as the default.

I ordered it thinking it has a neutral sound signature (I own Etymotic ER2SE iem which is known for its neutral sound and this is what I prefer)
should I cancel my order if it will affect the neutrality of my iem?

I'll have both later today, I'll come back with impressions/opinions.
Well I have both and I'm impressed, the KA11 actually sounds quite a bit better than the DC03pro. Considering the KA11 is less than half the price and I only bought the DC03Pro a year ago, what an improvement a year makes!

Lighter/smaller/cheaper/more power, the KA11 is pretty good. No hardware control, but that's what I wanted for this dongle anyway.

The KA11 can sure drive my Audeze Sine and my other planars from a smartphone. The THX onyx delivers similar power but has softer bass in comparison it seems. The KA11 sounds similar to the Meizu hifi which uses the same dac, but it just has more natural authority overall being 7 times more powerful. Really good dac for the prize and size. Comparison of the 3 dacs together below to realize how small the KA11 really is:

Just received my KA11 today. Out of the box, they sounded pretty nice - and particularly powerful for such a small dongle. However...

@FiiO As I'm on an iPhone, the Fiio app does not recognise them. And being the lightning version, I don't appear to have any way of accessing the feature set. Am I missing something, or is the IOS app version non-existant?
Dear friend,

Because IOS devices have strict restrictions on external devices, IOS devices do not support controlling the KA11.

Best regards

Hello, I recently bought one and after a couple of uses it's not recognised anymore, either by USB audio player pro or the fiio control app.
Is there any way to reset it?
Seems something wrong with the usb driver interface. I tried on a couple of phones and it is the same. The led light turns on, but the device is not recognised. Sometimes uapp finds a null device, but there is no sound.
Sometimes it's temporary recognised, but sound skips every couple of seconds

Since it is powered on with USB-connection but only recognized as an audio USB-DAC device when there is a headphone(-cable) connected at its TRS 3.5mm port, there might be a connection issue with your headphone cable.
Did you try a different cable (one without 4-pol TRRS mic/remote, an extension cable, an adapter,...) to check this?

Edit: By the way, Fiio: it would have been better not to switch on the blue LED if it is not actually in DAC mode (due to missing headphone/cable connection)... That is actually quite confusing.

It's the KA11. After rebooting my phone various times, I managed to get it recognised by the Fiio control app, and restore default settings. It would have been useful to have a physical reset button or a special software to flash it when it's bricked. Something similar happened to me with a Shanling UA3 and they suggested a firmware flashing tool. I have no idea how to update the firmware if the dongle is not recognised.

Thank you for your suggestion. Our new firmware has canceled the headphone detection and started to work directly.

Can you find it in your computer's device manager? Or download our firmware update tool directly to see if it recognizes.

Hello, I haven't tried to connect it to my computer yet. But I cannot find a proper firmware (or firmware update tool) for Ka11 on your website.
The firmware page doesn't list this model but only the ka1.

Could you please provide more infos?
