It's been awhile since I have come to this forum. I have been visiting Fiio's forum. From any of your knowledge, has Fiio discontinued working on firmware for all of the X series? It seems that way. There hasn't been a firmware release since May of this year. This device is years old and still broken in many ways. Sad. If they have indeed abandoned this product and not fulfilled their promises, this will be the last Fiio device I purchase.

This POS player has corrupted three of my sd cards now. Man this things is tied for the worst audio purchase I ever made. Trinity Audio Hunter IEM's being the other.
I also had the feeling that it ruined two of my microSD-cards. They were always damaged right after I changed music over the cable while the SD-cards where inside. But I love this player so much that I can live with a simple workaround: Take the SD-card out and exchange the music via an USB-adapter. Then put it back in. Since then (more than a year) no problem. I use all kinds of sizes from 64GB to 400GB. And btw.: It is the faster way anyways.

When do the sd cards apear to be damaged? When you turned on the player, after charging, in the middle of music?
I have 5 FiiO X7s (one of them 2nd Gen) in daily use. Started using them in april 2017. My two were damaged immediately after changing a lot of music while the cards were inside. That must have been End of 2017. Maybe they got to hot inside. But that is just a guess. Since my workaround no problems any more. I do FW updates, but irregular.

Since I am here after some absence ...
I can only encourage all X7 users (1st with AM3 or 2nd) to try out Fostex TH900 directly connected to the X7. I am so addicted to the sound, that I cannot live without it any more. Bought three (used) pairs of TH900 in order to have them ready everywhere I regulaly stay more than 3 hours.

Oh come on, do you have any idea how much Foster TH900 cost? It's absurd. $1200 to $2400. No way, not in this lifetime. Give me a good pair of in-ear to do the job. Even One More Quad for $150 I think would suffice.

I would if I could maybe buy the foster's but, nhaaaa.
