  AM3 is still my favorite.

Today I tried tidal for the first time.

It was nice until I wanted to listen to some J-music. Then I quit tidal.

Can you elaborate? SQ?

Curious

SQ of AM3, using only mSD music and only browsing by folders

I like the mids and energetic treble of AM3. I am not a fan of neither AM1 nor AM2 in this perspective, but I find AM3 to be really good.

  OK Fiio.
Please listen to how much distortion of AIMP it was recorded.

I recorded from the analog lineout of X7 via PC USB audio interface, but it is the same sound even at headphone out.
All FiiO Music and AIMP equalizer are disabled.

AIMP has no problem with smartphones, but it gets distorted in X7.

It sounds like you have 32 bit turned on in the player.  Check for this in the hardware settings.

Couldn't agree more, AM3 is fantastic!

Btw, two DAPs that wakened up on me some curiosity was iBasso DX200 and FiiO 3rd. Reading @twister6 review on DX200 bellow:

DX200 vs X7 w/AM3
[...] with X7 being brighter, thinner, and even more analytical, including X7 bass being a little more neutral.  In comparison, DX200 sound has more body, sounds a little more organic and smoother, low end has more impact and upper frequencies are a little smoother too [...]

and...

DX200 vs X5iii
[...] DX200 is brighter, more revealing, more resolving, and also with better layering and separation of sound [...]

I know this is all relative and only me, listening with my IEM's on my ears could do a judge by myself, but in my reading this makes X5 3rd a lot dark, right?

Regards

Pretty smooth and a bit dark.

X5-3 is very good by itself, but if you prefer AM3 signature, better wait for X7ii.

X5-3 is the best for people who prefer AM02 or AM01 or AM05.

Thanks. I think X7 is here to stay for a while, it has been a great companion and with the new FW it feels like a new DAP. About X7 3rd, yes it seems a consensus on its sound signature, quoting Marcus of headfonics, "The X5iii is a smooth consumer type tonal presentation with an accent on delivering a full sounding low end, rich and natural sounding mids and a laid back treble response".

Can't wait for what @Brooko has to say about it

Dear ryu2012,

Does this issue happens in other software as well? What about the foobar? And all the formats would have this issue?

Best regards

Hi @FiiO

My device is new, less a month of light usage. It can be fully charged.

Please check the video - https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=0fTmfr_2Ls8
1) After I disconnected the player from the dock it started automatic shutdown. How I can disable that behaviour?
2) I pressed the screen few times, countdown popup is disappeared  but the player is still powered off. Guess here is a bug, and shutdown should stop if I pressed screen few times?

I'm using 3.1.8 beta firmware.

Dear spetrushin,

We fail to get the video. Are you using the K5? If yes, the X7 in the dock would turn off while the K5 turn off. But a tip like following picture would raise, can you get it as well?

Best regards

Hello FiiO

This problem occurs only with AIMP.
I tried it with foobar, but it does not matter.

This sound source is WAV, but I converted it to MP3, OGG, FLAC and tried it.
There is no problem with foobar, but in AIMP, the same problem occurs in any format.

Thank you.

I can not find the 32 bit hardware setting in FiiO X7.
Where is it?

Setting for the player you are using.  If I set 32 bit in the audio hardware settings in Neutron I get the same distortion.

Hello, I am in the market for a Dap and see this is heavily marked down and I am considering it.  I am reading through this thread (a lot of pages to go) and am sure my questions are answered in there somewhere, but maybe someone can save me some time :)  Are many of the bugs worked out with new firmware?  How is the SQ?, especially compared to the Fiio x5iii or Opus#1 or ak120ii...  I will be mostly listening via balanced, so I would get that amp.  How is SQ via balanced?  Is it worth the discounted price, or better to wait for X7ii or get x5iii or other dap.  I mostly want good SQ via balanced, ability to play Tidal without downsampling by Android...  I used to have AK240ss, so if anyone can compare SQ to that I would be greatly appreciative.  Not sure if I want a budget Dap like this or get a DX200 or Opus#2 or higher end.  Would like to save money, but if there is a big SQ difference I am willing to spend.  Thank you.  I am torn between all these choices and am trying to figure out which I should get.

I understand twister6 has to keep saying nice things about the products he reviews in order to keep a steady supply of free kit coming his way, but I completely disagree with the above conclusions. DX200 has a very odd sub-bass roll-off (it's not subjective - pm me if you want my measurements). Its lack of punch and impact in the low-end is easily audible in comparison to the X7 (with any amp). I'd take the X7 + am3 any day over the DX200.  The only advantages the DX200 has are a lower noise floor (but am3's noise floor really isn't that bad to begin with) and better amp shielding. BTW, I tried @erictioh's trick of opening up the am3 and putting EMI-shielding tape over the chips. I smothered both sides of the PCB with two layers of the stuff. It was a great idea and kudos to @erictioh for the tip, but it did nothing for my am3. I still get the exact same level of wifi noise when streaming. (BTW, you get wifi noise when streaming with the DX200 too, it's just quieter.) Not a big deal to me though - I can still download and then listen offline with the wifi disabled.
