Plus they have two new X7ii's coming out next year.  Plus all future X series DAP's will be android based so I'd hold out until these come out.

This update was a major step forward over 3.0.9 !!! No more stuttering and garbled sounds, FiiO music app is very responsive now and sounding great again. Like a lot the new theme and the new VU meter - Good work FiiO, things are getting real close !

  How does the HD650 sound with the AM3 using the balanced output? 

It sounds better than the X7 with the K5, but obviously not as good as the X7 attached to the Valhalla. For a mobile setup, it's pretty good. I usually have the volume around 55 with high gain for AM3 balanced with HD 650.
 
On another note, I've been testing out the DAC function with the 3.0.10 beta FW. I haven't heard any skipping or experienced any restarts/shut downs. I think we might be closing in on a stable release! Hype!
 
Also, the graphic for DAC mode looks cool.

I wouldn't say things are getting close. None of the biggest annoyances for me have been fixed. The biggest problem is that it still will not scan (or even play) all the tracks on my SD card. There are other basic features that are not right: alphabetical ordering is still not alphabetical (this has been a problem since the first firmware), and foreign characters (e.g. with accents) still do not display correctly.

Fortunately I don't have issues with card scans or other related to the experience of listening music, and yes, I agree those are very annoying... I had with 3.0.9, mostly stuttering and "drag" on sound reproduction, to the point I flashed back to Fw2.0 to get a break on FW related issues.

Bottom line: yes, a few things to fix but its getting close. I think FiiO priorized the major issues related with BT, usb DAC, system stability and interoperability and now its closing the FiiO app

Just got a X7. Upgraded from a x5i.
 
1. It is currently on FW 2.0, should I update to the latest one? If not, what will I be missing, if any?
2. Any tips from the x7 veterans here?
3. What apps should I install, if at all?
4. What are the leather and silicone cases available for the x7 and where could I get them online?
5. Anyone using the x7 with the IT03?
