I have a different query. why is the linux kernel version on X7 3.0beta firmware at kernel 3.0.x when I can find info on xda-developers that Android 5.1 is based on kernel 3.10.x and later?

It is no need to care about the kernel versionn. If the build number and the date of it are correct, that would be ok.

  Firmware 3.10 looks attractive with the new theme BUT there seems no sign of the (i thought) originally promised REPLAYGAIN?

How do you feel about using balanced with IEMs, though? Isn't it kinda overkill? The AM2 already has a noticeable drop over the AM1 in battery life. I have the AM3 too, but I use it mostly with my HD 650's when I'm attached to my laptop.

compared to SE output in AM3? not that overkill but still sounds better IMHO. probably because im using the cheapest cable in my inventory with the cheapest balanced jack i got in the market.

i run the X7 + AM5 with AKG 550 @low gain with volume set at 85. consume abt 20% battery life after completing a full play session of Vivaldi 4 Seasons (18 FLAC tracks)

Been using the newest update for about 3 hours now. I have to say, I haven't encountered any troublesome issues as of this post. It's the best (beta) update yet. I'm starting to become more and more satisfied.
The newest layout looks super sexy too, gives me a very cutting edge vibe.

same here with AM3 at volume 39 balanced.
