It would have been interesting if James had proclaimed what amounts to the Alien's specs for the new X7. Now that would have made for a lively thread lol!
Definitely. I have been watching this thread with great interest as have most of us and I just can't help but think the more bells and whistles are added to this new TOTL DAP from FIIO the less I'm going to be inclined to buy it but having said that I'm confident that James and his talented colleagues @ FIIO would have had a great laugh at some of the absolutely ludicrous requests on this thread and will deliver us a mighty fine DAP with the one thing we value above all else.
we will released more information after the new year, but now I will like to release a prototype design which shows a very important features in X7,

depended on what all the new DAP pop up in the market, there are one thing I can make sure that X7 will be the best at $699. of course, not includes the subject sound quality.
in fact, It is great pain to me to keep all the secret for X7.
I'm going to assume that "not includes the subject sound quality" is a Chinese to English language translation hiccup and you meant will be the best in sound quality at that price!!

I like how there's a smaller OLED screen, presumably to save battery life.
Feels like a lot of wasted real estate for the power switch, however. As long as the design element doesn't impact the overall footprint, I guess.

Two screens? Actually it looks a bit like a DAC on the rear side.

yes, there are two screen, one on the front and one on the real. the small screen just for some simple operation and few information display.
the rending is just to show the dual screen so there are not flip switch and magnetic slider.

Its not about preference over style but its only about adding the design sugar on a top of SQ. Thats all. One does not exclude other.
