Amp module for X7

Building the X5 modular is a great idea. So you can offer, for example, optimized amplifiers for different types of headphones. I would probably purchase 2 different of those modules. Also I can imagine an additional battery module, maybe only in combination with the amplifier module. And I think it would be great if Bluetooth and WiFi would be also offered as modules and not as an integral part of the X5. In this way, any buyer could put together his own X5 and all would be happy.

Maybe it can be made from Lego parts, lol.

I agree that making the battery part of the amp module would make all happy.  Once the battery is unable to charge up you order a new amp module.

FYI: Google's Project Ara http://www.projectara.com | http://www.projectara.com/faq | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Ara
Project Ara is the codename for an initiative by Google that aims to develop an open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones.

Maybe at some point some audio player manufacturers will follow the lead.

The smartphone is one of the most empowering and intimate objects in our lives. Yet most of us have little say in how the device is made, what it does, and how it looks. And 5 billion of us don't have one. What if you could make thoughtful choices about exactly what your phone does, and use it as a creative canvas to tell your own story? Introducing Project Ara. Designed exclusively for 6 billion people.

Similarly, what if I could make thoughtful choices about exactly what my audiophile player does... Yeah, right.

Anyone else think of this when looking at the amp module.

Just had to! :D

Edit: Removed angry ape pic. Didn't fit in with the rest.

Well, I guess it's an improvement over this!:

No it would not make all happy.

It's an utterly insane idea!

Why on earth should someone have to buy a new amp module just in order to replace a faulty battery?

what exactly is the most efficient design?

A small swappable circuit board, insertable within the main DAP enclosure would consume a bit less room than a seperate chunk of enclosure being dedicated to each amp module.

Doesn't look as flash, though

why? By then a new and better amp board would be out so no harm. . . . And a new and improved battery,  l l . . . . oh and a new dap. lol

Owning the 901, I can say this is a great idea, much more ergonomic than swappable amp cards IMO. Congrats James.

I doubt it will be much different. Look at the Hifiman DAPs. If X7 turns out to be exactly the same size as X5, then the "flash" factor is an added bonus. Also having a module is much sturdier and offer more protection than just a circuit board. Especially, if you find yourself swapping amps a lot.

to everyone who interested in our X7, since we have decided the hardware and the software is based open system, which means a lots of features can be added by firmware update or the 3rd party Apps.

so may I ask you guys to tell me what kind of amp module do you need?

before the feedback from you guys, may I introduce some background information about the amp module of X7.

1, the amp module is a individual part of X7,  not like the HiFiMan, it is not a amp card.

2, the supply power for the amp module is decided by itself,  and the main power is from the build in battery of X7,

Now we are developing 3 kinds of amp module.

Balanced Amp module.
High Power output module ( 500mW/ch at 32ohms)
Standard output module for IEM.

Any suggestion about the amp module ?

Tubes! Glorious tubes!
