The correct number of files gets scanned and (I presume) indexed. The files are definitely there, because both Rocket and Neutron players find and play them instantly. But yes, even from internal memory, the FiiO music app fails to find them when I tap on them in the folder view list.

These files seem to play fine from the categories menu, but as I'm sure everybody here appreciates, the categories menu is useless as a way to navigate through a large music collection.

Have you ever formatted the internal storage and the SD card? If yes what kind of file system have you formatted them to?
In the categories menu, you can navigate by sliding on the letters navigation bar at the right edge of the menu.

I've tried external SD cards with both Fat32 and exFat. Same issue with either. I have not touched the internal storage - and music files stored there also have the same problem.

I understand you can scroll to an album in a folder (if you can remember its name). What's needed is a way of browsing artist, and then albums by that artist.

I'll double and triple check that today, but I don't think so. I have the same problem with every file type:
mp3, aac, alac, flac, dsd. All these files (on the same SD cards) play fine on my laptops, desktops, X5ii and QP1R.

P.S. These same files also work perfectly on the X7 via the Rocket or Neutron players. The only piece of software that has a problem with them is the FiiO music app.

So am I the only X7 owner that's having this problem of tracks not playing when selected from the folder view:

Hi,

this has been happening at mine end too, it was when I had some hidden files stored in the sd card by OS X.

Do a full directory listing of that directory - isn't it possible that there is something else (possible hidden file, or non music file) in that folder?

Cheers.

If I remember correctly, when using a mac based laptop, and connect a player to it, you need to cleanse the temporary files that mac OS writes. there are software that do this automatically, and should solve all problems
