I agree with you. I can usually tell Mp3 360 vs flac on my portable, but the apple 256 stuff is indistinguishable for me in a portable situation to flac.

mp3 caps at 320 right?

How many of you have Norah Jones "Don't Know Why?".

When you play that song, at 1:14, does she distort on your headphones? I have tried on Beyer DT770, Denon D5000/D7100 and Sennheiser HD650 from X7 AM1 and X7 AM2. There's still distortion in all these permutations. What is up with that?

Yep happens on my NAD HP50 too. As mentioned it's just the recording. For me I notice it starts at 1:13

has anyone tried playing a video with sound on the X7?

Played some music videos streamed on Tidal. No issues.

Just wondering, has there been any announcement on when the Balanced Amp Module will be coming out? I kind of tuned out interest in the X7 waiting on it to be released.

Youtube works flawlessly on the X7. Haven't really used anything else to play videos though. Hopefully that helps!

reason i asked is because my audio is maybe >1 second out of sync with video, but the reason i tested this is because when playing audio there is also a delay between the moment you press play, and the moment you start hearing it, and the same for when you pause it.

Are you talking about the X7 actually playing the youtube video, or using the X7 as a DAC and playing on a PC.  If you're using X7 as a DAC, there is a lot of lag.

Just used default browser - and yes, there is a lag that isn't there with the PC

I believe that it's there with every sort of audio, not just videos. reason i asked for videos is because that's the easiest way to notice it.

Someone here recommended the IE800. I haven't tried it myself, but I also heard from others that it has a lot of bass. My UM Pro 50s also have a good amount of bass...

I tried them, and it's not for me. I've also tried Final Audio Designheaven 6, which also lacks in some ways (I spend the past 4.5 hours listenibg to a number of headphones so I can't remember what it was I did not like) and finally listened to the FAD FIBASS. This will be my next IEM.

It is great that you found headphones that you like.

I wonder though what you did not like about ie800. I found them perfect. I will take a guess though. Too much bass?

What I'd like to see in the X7ii

Bigger screen
Better pixel density

Nope, I would much prefer fiio focus on audio quality and making audio apps work flawlessly. I have a phone for video and games, and I don't want fiio distracted from their primary goals:0
