it is indeed. i bought it about 5 months ago and had the bios replaced with LibreBoot, Trisquel GNU/Linux as OS. runs great!

I am not satisfy with current design so our engineer have to modify the design again, the high power module will be released first. and the balanced module will delay to May.

Well, it's for the best I guess Gotta say that I already enjoy the X7 a lot but I am really looking forward to the balanced and medium amp modules to get the most out of it!
 
Also a shoutout to Fiio for being so helpful and being a part of the community. I really feel like they listen to our requests.

X9 - A TOTL no compromise DAP with the best of the best components exceeding the specs of even the AK380 ,
and.............. selling it for less than $1600.

That's one of the main reasons why I decided to purchase a X7 and other daps from them in the past (X3 and X1). I'm much more willing to spend my money (especially something as significant as the X7 since it is not cheap). My X7 should arrive today so I'm hoping it will be worth it.

That would be amazingly bad. The idea was to create something accessible, not splurge on money. It does not cost 1600 to create a DAP, regardless of how you do it. 
 
Think about it, even the best DAC in the world costs at most 10$, while the best amp buffer would cost at most 20$. 
 
What would be if the next generation X7 will surpass AK380 at the same price as X7. It is possible, without much effort. You could even beat AK interface, and features, making it a bit bulkier, but with more battery and call it a day. 
 
Now that would be a game changer.

You should be pleased. I thought to myself that X7 is amazing as a device, the only drawback that I observed with it was battery life, which was not necessary small, but smaller than other Fiio players.
