Yeah well, some of us like cheese, no? lol. Would you care for a slice of Gouda? Just wanted to extol my confidence in a company that stands out for its Nobility, just like Noble, from which I am the happy owner of the K10.

I hope X7 is a big success and we all like it and enjoy it and have lots of cheese and wine and so on .. however, Nobility? form software to hardware there is nothing new here - just pieces designed and produced by others companies being put together into one alluminium box ..

Well, I got news for you friend: lots of people now own the K10, having paid $1600 ot more for it. I'll bet the majority of them do not at all regret having paid that much money either. I count myself among them... and I am not rich by any means. As a matter of fact, I'm on a Disability income, had to save 4 months to buy the K10 too. Nobility, my friend, Noble has plenty of and I'm sure it will go superbly with the X7.
Perhaps I detect some reductionism past the point of Occam's razor in your comment which seems to cheapen what are, IMHO, works of art!

Did I mention money/price anywhere in my post? Was not even thinking about it, really. ...

  Guys lets get back to the topic on hand, if you don't agree with certain posts, just ignore it and move on. No need to take the thread OT

Does your X7 have the latest firmware?  The slight liabilities I noted were no sleep mode or idle shutdown, as well as the album repeating after finishing despite pressing the right mode for playing through once.

Yes, I loaded the latest firmware from the tour thread. I am still learning the ins and outs of the all the components and functions its early days as of yet.

Do try the app HibyMusic. Like the FiiO music app, it can bypass the Android SRC restrictions. It should be on the Whitelist app in the X7. The blue design with the musical notation, that would be the app to download.

Thanks broski right back at ya :)

I see what you did there, I see you're a fan of The Mentalist as well

The best dac/amp I have is the Geek Out V2. It was so good that it was being compared to desktop units. Unfortunately the FiiO X7 flat out DEMOLISHES it in terms of pure DAC performance. I m listening to the new Adele single on spotify. The depth, atmosphere, timbre and soundstage is flawless. I still can't figure out how they make even Spotify sound so good?  What kind of black magic is this?

And that Blue LED looks seriously cool. The X7 has one of the sexiest designs I have seen on a DAP and it truly feels solid in the hand with good heft and weight.

After picking it up from my desk this morning, I was taken back by the weight as I am used to my BlackBerry Z30 and iPod Classic and being metal, the X7 was also a bit cold to the touch haha, works as a nice wake up jolt! The X7 truly feels like a premium product in the hand.  I find it easy to operate the buttons in my pocket as well. I am looking forward to being able to buy different cases for the X7. Hopefully third party case makers will get into the game as the X7 WILL take off in popularity.

Start saving your money boys this is the real McCoy!

Jesus! This is what I wanted to hear. I preordered a v2+ but now I feel like ordering a X7 now. Did you hear the Go v2 on balanced though?

I have been listening to it single ended only unfortunately.

I heard balanced is better, but i can't see it making that big of a difference if the dac section of fiio x7 crushes it. I'm just worried if the 500W module or the balanced amp will be able to power the he-560s. I have 1964 v6s's but the treble extension just can't compare to he-560.

I downloaded the X7 firmware from the tour thread, unzipped it, and took a quick look through its contents.

Folder system/app, a few files that catch my eye:
 1. AboutFiio.apk (Most likely just an app for an "about" screen)
 2. FiioMusic.apk (Most likely the music player application itself)

All apps are odexed. I will try deodexing and installing the FiioMusic app into one of my old phones later to see what the UI is like.

Folder system/etc contains white_list.xml. Theoretically, if you can edit it, rezip the update package, and re-sign the update zip, you can allow basically any app to install.

Whitelisted apps within this update:

    <package name="com.fiio.music.x7"/>
The FiiO music player app

    <package name="com.hiby.music"/>
Hiby Music Player

    <package name="com.baidu.input"/>
Baidu Keyboard?

    <package name="com.netease.cloudmusic"/>
NetEase cloud music

    <package name="com.aspiro.tidal"/>
Tidal

    <package name="com.spotify.music"/>
Spotify

    <package name="com.neutroncode.mp"/>
Probably Neutron player

    <package name="com.tencent.qqmusic"/>
QQMusic

    <package name="com.redirectin.rockplayer.android.unified"/>
RockPlayer

    <package name="com.touchtype.swiftkey"/>
Swiftkey Keyboard

    <package name="com.sds.android.ttpod"/>
TTPod music player

    <package name="fm.xiami.main"/>
A chinese music player app, just google "fm.xiami.main" to find it

The boot animation (Unzipped bootanimation.zip from system/media):

The regular build.prop info, some details:
 1. Android 4.4.4
 2. CPU armeabi-v7a RK3188
 3. Display density of 240
 4. Wifi scan interval of 15 seconds while enabled

i remembered i read somewhere that the fiio music app and the pure music mode are products of cooperation with the HibyMusic developer. Joe Bloggs if that's the case, i am very confident that the fiio music app is already good enough for local contents.

Here is the thing, depending on your tastes YMMV, but to me there was enough of performance gap for me to favour the X7 DAC quite easily. In my mind the X7 is one tier above the V2 at the very least. I don't know how much of a difference balanced would make.

I am using the FiiO music app myself but the poster in question stated some concerns about the app and I just pointed out an alternative app which can also bypass the SRC restriction. I must also stress that the FW is very much beta at this point so I would wait till the final software is out before forming final impressions on the software side of things. I rather like the sound quality I get from the stock app. but most of my listening is from Spotify so there is that. I literally bought the X7 to use with streaming services and to that end, to say I am satisfied would be an understatement ;)
