In theory.......... maybe, perhaps, yes. The implementation of the chosen DAC is as important, if not more, than the chip itself. FiiO may choose not to use all the available channels and bells and whistles of the desktop version so it really depends on how they implement it. Also consider the amp section and the synergy with said DAC implementation. It's too early to know for sure.

Then let's hope FiiO will do their best with the implementation :)

And though James says that FiiO is not willing to compete with, say, iBasso DX100 and other hi-end DAPs, X7 will be compared to these players.
And the most interesting to me is the comparison between X7 and DX100 due to the same DAC and different implementation

Question: regarding Sound Quality strictly, how will the X7 compare to the X5ii? I know we have not heard the X7 yet. But when considering the specs, should we notice a significant or barely audible difference?

Tks!

This question cannot be answered unfortunately. Its like describing what a gourmet pie tastes like without actually eating it. We know the ingredients but its a matter how the pie was cooked. I think its safe to assume the differences will be 'noticeable'.

The only real way is by gaining hands-on experience or feedback from trusted users,

Guys, this was an early RENDERING - the post from James was December last year - so 6 months back. Do you really think they would have a working prototype when they were still deciding on the design?

They are not creating a PCB and software at that stage....

Cheers,
K

I think you misunderstand. I do not mean Instead of the x7 or even a dual release. I simply mean at some point in the future. (Limited Edition?)

With kind regards,
Jordan

I wonder if we will be allowed custom launchers?

I think that people who owned X5 might want to mod the X7 looks too, but I am not sure how mucc flexibility Android offers in this aspect.

sure, you can set your girlfriend's photo as wall paper or change the icon of any app.

here is another photo shows the balanced socket.

This should work just perfect with a direct connection of Whiplash Modular silver cable (http://www.head-fi.org/t/757815/review-of-whiplash-audio-twag-v3-litz-and-modular-cable-system-a-true-forward-thinking-in-custom-cable-design-with-a-lot-of-close-up-pics)

So is that like a better version of XLR connection? I'm sure that I seen that type of  cable when perusing some random cable website.
