So, I've managed to collect 6 flagship (or almost flagship) DAPs from well-known companies: Lotto Paw Gold, A&K320, OPUS#2, Questyle QP1R, iBasso DX200 and Fiio X7 and I've made a video with comparison. It's really subjective, and I have an accent, so I've warned you:

I'm not sure, which topic I should put it, so, I've decided to put it to all related player's topics. Actually, IMHO X7 stands really good, compared to most expensive top-end DAPs

I just purchased the HD650 headphones from Sennheiser. I want to purchase the AM3 module to use with my X7. Can anyone explain is some detail how I would set up my headphones to work in balance mode. I understand you have to purchase a separate cable for this. But, I don't know what cable to purchase and what to do from there.

Thanks

Hi, you just need a cable like this one from Moon Audio
https://www.moon-audio.com/silver-dragon-headphone-cable-v3.html

They have the cable with the Sennheiser HD650 connection type and on amplifier connection options you have to choose the 4th from top (2.5mm TRRS Balanced...). There are other options in the market...

My 2 cents

I´d say go and order from Lee at www.veclan.com. Get the cable (Type B hd6x0 1.2m 4pin XLR) and adapter (4pin XLR to 2.5 TRRS Balanced) and you are all set. That´s the best $30US you´ll spend on cables...

This is where I bought my balanced cable for the HD650/AM3 combo. http://www.c3audio.com/store/p26/Sennheiser_HD_650%2F600_Headphone_Cable_--_CANARE.html

One of most helpful merchants I've ever dealt with.

Just choose 2.5mm TRRS and if you'd like the cable to be more lightweight choose the portable option under sleeving.

I see where the one end of the cable is attached to the adapter but where do the other 2 ends of the cable get attached to. They look like they are 2 pin wires. I assume they get attached to the headphones. I am not aware they have a 2 pin connection. The headphones are due tomorrow.

Is that the real picture from the XLR to 2.5mm TRRS adapter?

I ask since it looks like a normal TRS plug, can't spot the 2nd ring.

Just realized you could flash A.R.I.S.E Sound Systems™ onto the FiiO X7 with FireFlash. Holy crap. This is as close as we can get to a full fledged Aroma Custom ROM on the X7, for now. Updated the guide.
This thing will push the X7 to its full potential.

send the exact link please so i can try out

and i really hope this will work

i get credit for suggesting the flash method

Read the guide first please, you're going to get confused. It's not very user friendly at first, the link is inside the guide I sent.
You choose your own configurations and apps and such. Give me a sec. I'll add a brief explanation in here.
