Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares

Hi RELIC, I have now an X3 first gen, before I had a X5 with your lovely McFiiotosh theme, there is nothing similar or a porting for my X3? THX

I'm sorry but I won't be doing any ports to the X3, and I'm not even sure the X3 would support that kind of theme given the different interface. Plus, my time is very limited these days.

Check this thread for X3 themes:

can anyone recommend *specific* firmware mods for the x5 gen1 that display or can display larger font sizes? my wife loves her x5 but is having a difficult time with the font size. thanks in advance for any pointers to mods that can help!

Unlike the X1 and X3ii, the X5 does not allow font sizes to be changed. When I tried different fonts the larger ones made a mess out of the interface. It's unfortunate IMO.

uggh, really? that's too bad. are there any firmware mods that you can recommend that might be easier to read just based on organization or color scheme?

There are a couple, but I can't recall which ones are the most legible apart from my own X5 Classic Theme, which is based off of an iPod classic.

If you go to the first post in the thread you can click on the links to the posts where members uploaded their themes. Have a look at those as almost all of them have posted pictures as well.

x RELIC x, we loaded your X5 classic theme onto my wife's player, what an improvement! the contrast of the darker letters and the white background makes it much easier to read. problem solved, thanks for a great mod!

This is what that looks like:

The firmware extract tool (windows only, sorry):

I am completely necroing this thread, but I was just messaged by someone asking for the firmware extract tool.
It seems that I deleted my dropbox account some time ago, so all these links are dead.
Luckily, I was too lazy to clean my PC out, so I found basically all the stuff (both X3 and X5)

I know the FiiO x5 is old - but I still really enjoy it so I created a custom 2.7 firmware which is based of Relic's X5_Classic theme but with different colors and icons (like the battery) and it's very minimalistic.

The firmware is extremely small (11mb - all graphics are PNG compressed) and maybe pretty dull, but the biggest advantage of this firmware is that you can read the screen when you are outside.
