I'm looking for a dap that isn't going to slow up when Im browsing through a huge microsd card. As well as one that wont get chopped up playing .dsf files, which my fiio x5ii should be able to play but sometimes will skip for a second. Is the x5iii going to be a player that can do that?

Is think this would be better posted in the main X5 Gen 3 that. This thread is just for expressing interest in the tour.

After looking carefully into this, I found out its exterior design is still very questionable for the price.
It's improved from X5 gen 1 and 2 but still it's outdated... and it comes with an enormously high price tag.

The price I've seen is $399.  That doesn't seem to be an enormously high price tag.  Have you seen another price?

$399 is pretty high for a music player. I bought a decent laptop for $299 few days ago.
Well if this is ok with you, then it's fine.
The main reason I'm bashing 3rd gen design is still Pioneer XDP-100R which has proper 2016 style design and UI.
Fiio's design still feels somewhat behind time or missing something. I blame its thickness also...

Thanks for the reply. We'll have to agree to disagree. To me the Pioneer looks absolutely ugly. Just personal opinion, of course.

And comparing music player price to laptop price? That's not even apples to oranges. That's like apples to broccoli :p

Japanese brands such as AudioTechnica, Pioneer, Teac usually come with higher quality design...
They look better than Chinese brands.
Well, that's my personal opinion... but it's true that Japanese brands are more popular and better recognized.

When you see the AK380 listed at $3,499, the price of the new Fiio looks like a steal.

We should not be paying that much ($400) to enjoy accurate music reproduction
is our brain going to enjoy music 9x more with the ak380?

This thread is for a tour and the folks who apply and all things related to that.

There is, I assume another thread for impressions and general discussion. No?
Read the site rules. Ugly, pretty,cheap,expensive...who cares in this thread. Every time folks post I get notified because I am subbed and waiting to see the tour picks and schedule. The AK has nothing to do with this thread whatsoever.

Respect the OP's (original poster's) intentions and try and keep comments on topic. If you feel a strong need to (continue to) discuss a particular, but off-topic subject in a thread, start your own thread and direct post a link in the thread rather than derail that thread. If it's not a discussion worthy for a thread, consider taking it to private messages.

Thanks in advance.
