I'm all in with Linux these days. No Win 10 spyware for me. That's another reason I love Fiio DAPs. I don't have to faff around with proprietary god awful management applications (looking at you Itunes). Just plug it in, drag and drop my music, and enjoy.

Download speed for the new firmware ver 1.1.5 was around 2 minutes in the Philippines

I encountered one minor issue though. When the alert for the availability of the new firmware popped-up, I ignored it as i didn't want to be one of the first to discover a nasty bug. So, i ignored the pop up a few more times. I was going to update the firmware yesterday but the update pop up no longer appeared. I restarted a few times but still no pop up. I then manually checked for an update via the built in app but it said i had the latest firmware. I tried a few more times a couple of hours later but i had the same results.

I was able to download and update today with no issues.

I used Bluetooth to connect my compact hifi set. I found that the X5iii could not play DSD file in this mode and it skipped all the DSD tracks and played the next FLAC track the in next album. Is it because the compact hifi does not allow it?

Some DSD tracks are not available to be played via Bluetooth. We will try to see if it is available to improve it in later firmware.

I finally found the solution. I was using and reinstalling the driver I had saved on my system.

I downloaded the one from the FiiO site in the X5 3rd Gen section and it worked faultlessly the first time.

I am now really enjoying the sound of my 3rd Gen, A5 and Fidue A83 combination.

Sorry for any inconvenience I caused FiiO and anyone else who offered their help by not doing this in the first place. Lesson learned.

I also am annoyed by the fact on start up the Fiio app starts to play music. Or if I remove headphones it does not auto pause like my 2nd gen did.

Removing features from a lower cost version is I think not a good thing to be doing when making a upgrade.

That and the battery life.

2. Can you see the headphone icon disappear after unplug your headphone?

Must been glitch no it does pause on headphone remove.
On 1.1.4 it however does auto play tracks on boot in pure music mode still.
Wait for a min after it boots it will play straight away but looses the last used source.
Example, if I was playing files via folder view and shuffling only 1 SD card then on reboot it will continue where I left off but shuffles both SD cards so have to stop and re play from sd1 in folder view again.

I failed to reproduce the issue you mentioned. Did you enter the all music category before choosing the song from SD1? What's the resume mode you choose? Or any other certain settings?

When I use the DAP it heats up a bit at the bottom of the screen.
When I charge (fast charge) it heats up even more.

This is normal, do you also have the same thing?

Why X5III would get hot when playing music?

A: The X5III is a high resolution music player. And many chips will work at the same time when it's playing music, which will consume a lot of power and also release heat.But you don't need to worry about any safety issues with the heating, because there's temperature protecting circuit inside the player.

It doesn't even say "X5" with a ! Just a yellow triangle.

I'm done with it. It's packaged up and will be going back tomorrow. It can't be an issue with my system as 6 other FiiO DAPS and a Questyle QP1R and iFi IDSD Black all work without issue.

@FiiO Would it be possible to use the Balanced out and the Line-Out to get "Balanced" line out like other DAPs do to connect to Balanced Amps? The Aune M1S allows for this, but this DAP does so much more than the M1S, that I wouldn't want to go to that DAP for simply that 1 feature. I would think it would be possible to do through firmware.

Yes, that is on my list. Though, an option without an included amp would be spectacular! Especially for those of us who have a preferred desktop amp and would only require the "balanced line-out".

I'm sure I just haven't found the way to do this but it's annoying. If I'm using Fiio Music, go into a folder and start playing an album. I then listen for a bit, when I put the screen back on I get the view showing the art, play/pause, skip etc. screen.

How do I get back to the folder where it was playing without having to navigate again to find it. I'm sure there must be a way because I find it irritating so I'm sure I'm missing the obvious.

Hello, i have few problems with x5 3rd...... soundquality - hmm ok, but these problems are frustrating....has anyone issues of disconnecting from wifi, i have 1.1.5, but its disconnecting everytime after a while, i see only a exclamation mark... spotify offline files permanetly dissapearing after few reboots from internal storage...spotify dont see them...


have anybody notice any sound differences between 1.1.5 - 1.0.9? I felt strange metalic feeling in voices in 1.1.4... ..in 1.0.9,1.1.1 it was ok...
