I also installed Poweramp, and found it poorly sounding compared to Fiio pure amp. In addition, I have found that using Fiio as a DAC with my Windows 10 computer, fed from J River Media Center as a front end, provides a clarity, dynamic range, and remarkable instrument resolution that I have never heard before with my desktop system. Needless to say I was astounded.

An update- clearing the database and the cache every time I attempt to scan has successfully allowed me to scan my full library more frequently. The total is 58,000 tracks or so and it has completed twice in a row now.

However, the program now crashes immediately after only 47,000 or so appear in the library. I have sent crash logs across the board and don't understand why this is now an issue vs. being able to scan all 58,000 a few days ago. The files have not changed since.

@FiiO
  - I would love to hear back about this as you can!
Dude, you are scarry, 58,0000 tracks!? You are either 150 years old, or you acquired every recording ever produced,.... Or both! Lol!

@FiiO if we want to get the most from our battery, what are the best things to do: turn off (or dim) screen? don't use equaliser? don't play anything higher than FLAC from ripped CD? use low gain? listen @ < volume 80? don't use Bluetooth or wifi?

Will using X5-3 USB DAC be neutral or even positive charging? What about having it on charge whilst using BT / WiFi - will it keep or even gain charge?

Can you quantify any of these actions just to give us a rough guide, like screen on full brightness will drain battery in N1 hours; playing 96/24 uses X times more battery than 44/16? Etc.?

Are there any background system processes that are consuming significant battery life that might be considered 'optional' that we could automatically switch off via a new settings option in future FW? This way, the non-technical / risk averse amongst us don't need to fret about "rooting" and stuff like that to obtain "Longer Battery"?

Dear sjb57,

Every function may using the battery power. But yes, you can try to let the battery work longer like doing the above you mentioned. If you don't mind, you may tried the portable charger for help. The X5III has fast charging function which will not take long time for fully charged as well. Thank you for the kind support.

Best regards

Hi Everyone,

got my X5III today. Sound is really great.
Here is my first question:

I have a bluetooth remote control which is pairing and working good. The remote control has no keyboard.
But, if the BT device is connected, the x5iii does not show me the screen-keyboard (i.e. if searching something).
After disconnecting the BT-remote the screen-keyboard appears again.

I tried to change something in the android-settings but cannot find a solution.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Regards
Günter
I think that's the Android thing. My Note 2014 does exactly the same when I am using bluetooth keyboard. I don't think that you can find work around this. Try your remote with your Android phone, if you have one to see if you experience the same behaviour.

Hi @FiiO, the delay would happen when I resume playing my current track at Fiio music app. Pausing the song does not impose any problem but when I resume playing the song there will be a slight hiccup to the song, which sounds funny and actually skips the song a little bit. It's not much, but it makes the song listening experience a bit unpleasant. I mean it is not as smooth as the play/pause experience in my X5 II.

The third party app support would be great for the hardware buttons but if it is hard to do, it's totally fine. What bugs me the most is the hiccup when you play/pause a song.

Dear Skye222,

Thank you for the feedback. We have reported to the engineer about that and will have a look at it.

Best regards

Thanks, but one thing seems strange to me. When I charge the battery from a PC (still in power off status), clicking power on/off immediately takes me to the big battery icon. But when I charge through a wall charger, clicking power on/off first takes me to the welcome screen and than it switches to big battery icon - takes quite some time and is not quite user friendly.

I think it would be also a good idea to indicate somehow with the blue light that the battery is fully charged.
1. when charging the led blinks and when charged it stops blinking (constant light)
or
2. when charging constant light and when charged it switches the led off

Dear PsiCore,

Just checked the battery display you mentioned. It seems that both charging by the PC and the charger would lead to welcome interface first.

As for the LED display in charging status, we will report to our engineers and consider about that. Thank you for the feedback.

Best regards

Isn't Life much easier if you implement the OLD charging status thingy which All Fiio DAP had since ages - BLUE LED during playback -> Charging it Glows RED -> When 100% Full it turned GREEN.

From 4-5 feet distance user know his/ her device fully charged by just take a glance at it without touching it.

Dear Ab10,

Thank you for the feedback. But we are sorry that the LED in the X5III can't act like that.

Best regards

Dear guebac,

We tested serial Bluetooth device but still fail to reproduce this issue. Could changing to another keyboard help? Or maybe tey to wait some time longer in searching interface?

Best regards

I have a similar issue on my X5 to some other guys.
Whenever I start playing a song on Fiio Player, very beginning of intro is skipped. It only happens when playing a song from the beginning and doesn't happen with other apps.

Dear Rhythmy,

We have reported this to our engineers and will have a look at it.

Best regards

(...)

Edit: Btw I agree with whoever suggested that the artist overview in the FiiO Music app and in Pure Music Mode should be by Album Artist not by Artist.

Hello,

What are the differences between "Album Artist" overview and "Artist" overview ?

Thank you.

I also noticed this. It is not a big deal, but I hope FiiO will improve it in future firwmare.

What do the low pass filters in the filter settings do exactly?

Options include:

Sharp Roll-off Filter
Slow Roll-off Filter
Short delay Sharp Roll-Off Filter
Short delay Slow Roll-Off Filter
Super Slow Roll-Off Filter

???

It looks like Short delay Sharp Roll-Off Filter was the default setting, but I can't really tell what any of these are doing...

I tried to listen to music with FIIO Music, I paid for the BASS VIPER, I tried to configure it to my liking, and I could not. I am left with the POWERAMP full version. He kicks FIIO MUSIC several times. I am looking for strong basses, a lot of strength in the bass and FIIO MUSIC no matter how much I set it does not give it to me. But POWERAMP, with a simple bass volume regulator, satisfies me completely by making me enjoy music as never before. FIIO MUSIC has so much to fix and improve for me to use it again.

  @FiiO

1. When I use X5 as a Dac directly through the usb cable, it works. I use the USB cable comes with the K5. I can't try on windows
2. Yes, the sound from K5 will become lower and not clear

Dear ShinoX5,

1. Please try to change another USB port to see whether it helps? Can you read the interface like that when collecting the X5 to the computer in storage mode?

2. As for the lower sound from K5 after pausing the music in X5, it will be fixed in next firmware update.

Best regards
