Thank you very much for that info. I had no idea about the wifi limit. It does seem a bit odd considering every other gadget I own (iPhones, iPad, Onkyo DP-X1 etc) all see my 5GHz wifi - and it really is ALOT quicker than the 2.4GHz one.

@FiiO - any comment on that?

Thanks also for the info about the slow OTA speed. I've read most of this thread and you have answered 2 questions that I haven't seen anywhere else in 400-odd pages.

It may be my error, but I did go to the technical support page of FiiO's website, download the zip file from the right hand corner of the page, dragged-and-dropped the zip file into the X5 folder on the desktop. But when I opened the FiiO and found the zip file in the internal folder, and tapped on it, and got the option to "cancle" (yes, spelt wrong) or "update"(or "yes", I forget), it wouldn't accept me tapping on the update option. Hence having to go through the slow OTA process through my slow wifi.

But always good to know why things don't work.

The X5III doesn't support the 5G Wifi.
 
Please check whether you download a complete package before putting it in the storage for update first. It may be 240MB or so.
We will try to test and improve the speed of OTA update. Thank you and sorry for bringing inconvenience to you.

i have the same problem when i made the scan library i miss on 6640 songs more or less 400
after i have deleted contents in album folder and made rest factory and after this i miss only 71
but i stillhave the trouble
 
i have forgotten to say that i see the correct songs number viewing the sd placed on X5iii  any help ?
 
the songs are stored in these format folder : Artist ----> Album ----> flac or ALAC

My headphones arent that hard to drive (MH40 of master and dynamic) but, have to say that i have to use it on 1/4 of vol at HiGain or 2/5 of vol at LowGain to have a decent Volume, always with a lot of control. Which headphones are you using?

I have only this one because i wanted to test if FIIO can handle this type of DSF file or not. I rather expected error information "the current format is not supported" or something like that . the song is playable on my PC thorough Foobar - was converted from 5.1 SACD

We fail to reproduce the bug you mentioned, do you mean the play/frw/next button would fail to response if you press them immediately after adjust the volume in blank screen? We will report to the engineer and ask them to have a look about that.

Yes exactly, when you change volume you have to wait some time until you can use other hardware buttons. (i think this is the time of displaying the volume on the screen)

is there anyway to EQ Spotify?  The EQ in Spotify does not have any effect.  Need EQ to tune down the treble on my Sony EX1000.  Viper Effect is usable in Fiio default music app and Poweramp EQ works too.  Just can't EQ Spotify.

I've noticed that the equalizer on the Fiio Music App, affects the Tidal and Spotify apps as well. I have a question regarding the change in sound, of the fiio app equalizer... When the equalizer is turned off and greyed out, it sounds different (to me) than equalizer turned on, with all levels at zero. I mean, shouldn't they sound the same; shouldn't both setting be pretty much "flat"? I don't like to add EQ at all, but I don't know which of the two is considered "Flat"... I remember my ipod 5.5 and the EQ "off" and flat" settings, were identical, not the case with my x5 iii unit.

While playing spotify, open up the Fiio Music app and click the little round music note (under the search button)... now click the equalizer button (looks like 3 sliders),,, turn on the qualizer on the top right corner, now the changes made here will affect spotify.

i really really suggest to ad the A5 or the E12. I had the Ex1000 and at least to my ears, what they needed was a good analog bass boost, and at the time i had the E12, they really shine with good power and good bass bost. I found always the EQ to degrade de sound quality

You can use the back button to quit the volume slider

Yes, i agree playing with EQ will degrade the sound quality a little.  I have the E18.  But i think it can't work with X5III, at least when i tested it with earlier firmware.

Why don't these on-line companies state if an item is not in stock!? I ordered through them as four days previously I had bought some £500 headphones that arrived very quickly. I actually posted how happy I was with their service on here. I take that all back. To not state an item is out of stock and to take your money is indefensible. I could be waiting weeks for my item.
