FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Probably be next year for anything new with the X3 or X5. I'd imagine it would be similar to the new features/hardware on the new X1. I just got my X5II so I'm in no hurry for any new DAP. However, if my guess is right, new models will be dropping around my next birthday...lol. A guy can dream at least. I'm still interested in price and sound impressions of the IEMs. I like the ex1 so these new ones are on my radar.

Yeah I believe by touch scroll FiiO means the wheel does not physically turn, like the iPod Classic.

If that's the case then that would make this in my opinion the best DAP on the market as far as operating the device goes. It's hard to beat the touch wheel. Should be far fewer problems too with a touch wheel than the mechanical wheels.

I went from 1.2 to 2.1 firmware 1.2 and I must say that it seems to me that the sound is better, cleaner and more detailed. to you it seems? the firmware that sounds better?

I'm not sure what you're hearing. FiiO says they've never changed the sound with fw updates. It would be noted in the fw update if there was a change I would think. YMMV.

disapointed they didn't show off a new X5. I really hope that they release one with the new touch wheel and bluetooth like the new X1 has.

This is something I'm still trying to understand. Does the new X1 have a touch scroll, or it's the same scroll but redesigned?

Hi, alwass89

The X1II have touch screen scroll. There are new technology which can make the same thing but in different way.

Funny, I felt the same when I updated to firmware 2.0.
Then later I was trying to see if that was really the case....
And I found that I flipped the gain switch to high.
One of my IEM sounded better with High Gain and I didn't realize that until then.

After updating to 2.1, and playing with gain switch, I think the gain switch made the difference with my specific IEM.

Gain only makes the sound louder and doesn't add any dynamics. Volume match low and high gain and you wouldn't be able to tell any difference.
