FiiO X1 II (2nd Gen) w/ Bluetooth!

QUESTION: Does the EQ on the Fiio x1 2nd Gen. not function when in Bluetooth mode?
I purchased my Fiio x1 2nd Gen awhile back, but just got to "setting it up" this weekend. I immediately updated the firmware to the most current version, then began loading mainly FLAC, MP3, AIFF, and WAV files. I am still figuring out all the functions on the unit, but have noticed that the EQ settings don't seem to change at all!! I have only used the unit via Bluetooth, and have not attempted to use the line out feature. Does the EQ not function while using Bluetooth? Thanks in advance!!

Dear DaNoose,

The EQ function is controled by the DAC chip PCM5242. The Bluetooth transmission won't go through it. So the EQ is no function in Bluetooth mode.

Best regards

Gapless playback has not been addressed in any firmware updates just yet. Hopefully soon, as a lot of people are growing tired of waiting. I'd recommend updating the firmware to the latest version anyway, as the performance did increase over the earlier versions (especially media scanning times). Put your SD card in the X1ii, and format the card on the player. Download the firmware, unzip it, and put it into the root directory of the X1ii when it's plugged in to your computer. To force the update on the player, hold the top left physical button and the power button until the player turns on. I hope that helps!
if the latest update worked... Update not found.. 8 GB and 64 GB formated to fat 32.

Also, is there any way to speed up activation of Bluetooth? It takes nearly 20 seconds for me on the latest firmware, whereas other Bluetooth devices that I use only take 1 or 2 seconds to turn on. Just a suggestion

I've noticed this as well.  Taking quite a long time to pair with other devices with the latest firmware.

Dear ThePLA,

We will report this to our engineers and try to improve the speed of activation of Bluetooth. Thank you for the feedback.

@fiio

Is there anyway to turn off the blue power light when the player is in use?

At least it's not overly intrusive!

I kinda like having it in there, helps me determine if I forgot it running so I don't consume the battery

What sort of battery life are you getting with the X1II? I did have one a couple months ago but send it back but now with the improvements in firmware I might be interested in picking one up again. I wonder if they will ever add gapless to it...that's something I really want to see added.

Oh no, it is not too intrusive.  However, I use my X1 II mostly when I am relaxing in bed at night and the light can be just a tad bright in the dark.  So I was just wondering if there was an option to turn it off I did not know about.  I can always just cover it with a small piece of black tape, problem solved.

hey, does anyone know how to open the FW firmware file once i download it to my computer? on second thought, maybe it does not have to be "opened". i get my player tomorrow and was just trying to get the firmware started ahead of time. maybe i just put the micro sdxc card into the fiio X1ii and hook it to my computer with the USB cable and then download it from the fiio website directly to the micro sdxc card within the player? Wait, the fiio website says something about unzipping, so maybe I do have to download it to my computer first, then unzip, then send it to the root directory within the card. Though when I downloaded the firmware from fiio's website it didn't come as a zipped file, just an "FW" file. So maybe it's ok to send that FW file to the root directory within the sdxc card and it will work.

Well, to update the firmware, all you have to do is copy the firmware file to your SD card. You then you turn off your X1ii. Once it's off, you hold the power and menu button till the screen turns back on. The X1 then goes through the firmware update by itself.
Sometimes the file is compressed. You'll need to use somerhing like Winrar to extract the firmware file. Then you simply follow the above process.
