Looks like they'll be getting opened up once I get mine to see what can be done. Might be a giveaway on the cards... Stay tuned !
Well, even if it was not that popular, the AS800AP is a very solid sounding earphone. You took a gamble on the cheaper JD3. I would think the JH3 would be the only one of the two that could beat it.Got my pair today, and TBH they're pretty mediocre sounding. Rolled off treble and somewhat muddy in the mids. I was really hoping these would take the crown from my Sony MDR-AS800AP but it's not even close, the Sony's blow them away in SQ.
Oh well, into the Shoebox of Shame they go.
Hope the JD3 could meet your need.Looks like they'll be getting opened up once I get mine to see what can be done. Might be a giveaway on the cards... Stay tuned !

I absolutely agree with you. Got my pair today too. Sounds like piece of crap - muddy, uncontrollable bass, without any details...Got my pair today

I have burned them about 70-80 hours and I don't find the bass muddy at allMy sets turned up today, bought 3 so I can have a play with the tuning. First impressions build quality pretty good for £10, out of the box way too muddy as already mentioned but it's a dynamic and will need a burn in before I start to mess with them. The backs vents do have a good effect on the bass which is a bonus in terms of modding / adding damping to them. Might up the resistance to around 100 - 150 ohms ( may go higher ) so I can push more power into them and see how the drivers perform. Cables going to have to go, hate inline microphones and it's a bit springy for my liking but that's dependant on if it's worth replacing or mmcx connectors fitting. Will add more findings or mods once they've had a decent burn in.
Excellent news, what's your overall opinion, worth a tweek / cable mod ?I have burned them about 70-80 hours and I don't find the bass muddy at all
For $20 I wouldn't bother, I find it excellent sounding as it is.Excellent news, what's your overall opinion, worth a tweek / cable mod ?
You are good at soldering! After burning them overnight I have noticed a slight improvement in the lower end, so it's going in the right direction. Still didn't like the cable so it had to go and amping them works well. Looking forward to a fully burnt in set now
