The first time I connected it to the PC, it worked for me too. But from the second time on, it didn't work there either.

Hmm that is scary. So what do I do? Download 1.05 firmware upgrade? Or is it really broken broken?

I was able to solve another problem with my JM21. It is not a specific JM21 issue, it is any device that uses Android 11 or above, please look at these two following screenshots.




These are both from my home screen on the JM21. The wallpaper image is exactly 750px x 1334px. On the left you can see that the image is zoomed in. Google has done this since Android 11 and they say it is a feature of Android. All wallpapers are zoomed in somewhere in the neighborhood of 3% - 6%. The right image is the same wallpaper without zooming and is the exact same file.

Currently I have only found a single way to force Android, and correspondingly the JM21, to display the wallpaper without zooming. Apparently Live wallpapers do not zoom on Android if they are the exact dimensions of the screen. Ignoring the fact that I am not using the default Quickstep launcher, the way I found to do this will work on it anyway. I am using an app from the play store called DarkModeLiveWallpaper (Github, FDroid, Google Play). I am using it with a single image file, but you can actually have four different images. A day and/or night Home screen and a day and/or night Lock screen. It will take regular images and apply them to your device as a Live Wallpaper, just without all the extra weight. Now my carefully curated bunch of wallpapers, that are the exact size of the screen are implemented in a 1:1 pixel arrangement without the nonsensical Android zoom 'feature'.

This is so typical of Android and Google. Nonsensical features that no one actually wants. But implementing something useful into their messed-up Android, like sensitive volume control, wouldn't even occur to these ignorant, naive people. By that, I don't mean fiio, hiby, or other Android DAPs. Just typical Android smartphones.

No idea, I sent it back 2 weeks ago but now it is stuck at the Italian custom, it seems they don't let pass devices with batteries anymore. I called them like 5 times since then to try to at least have it back but it is still on hold there, don't know if and when I'll have it back...

They could have at least implemented a chip triggering PD 5V to make it compatible with all the USB-C chargers and cables.

I agree, low-cost, entry-level DAPs are all about trade-offs. This limitation to 5V USB-A “old-style” chargers may be perfectly acceptable to most users, I don’t know…. It appears to be a bad design decision to me.

I agree. For a sub $200 usd Dap. I am good with it. At least it is usb c.

Sorry, you are easily pleased with a Usb-c charging option . If it was micro USB I do not think it would have sold a unit. But all in all you are right for a sub $200 dap it is acceptable. Unfortunately new users are expecting a flag ship dap for $200. When I show them $3000 daps they have a heart attack, I advise them welcome to the hobby with a big smile.

Hmmmm... Let's say that this is quite basic functionnality ? Just being able to use whatever 5V charger you have at your disposal...

Anyway, when it charges, the JM21 is really fast to gain 100% battery level, perhapse less than 1hour from ~25% to 100%.
On my side I had absolutely no issues using all of my different noname, Samsung and xiaomi both standard 5V and PD/QC chargers.
Except when it suddenly stopped charging

Just ordered JM21, very interested to see and hear what i will get with 200euros.
It will be used occasionally when the main set is not in use or available.
I have had M23 and it was really, really good.

Most of all i want to see what happens when i drive my E3's with JM21.

Hi, you can downgrade to 1.0.5 to see if it can works, we will release a new firmware to solve this problem as soon as possible.

For him to do that, it would be better that the links to the firmware .zip files work...
When I go to this page : https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202412181641298410115&tid=17
and click on the links, I get a blank page and then it goes back to the original page, nothing more...
I was about to downgrade when my JM21 refused to charge (but stated it was plugged onto a charger) last weekend...

BT speed issues every time I start using it when changing from BT to line out. Also start of all songs now clipped on BT with the latest firmware update. You can't make it up. A DAP with serious playback issues... The sound quality is decemt from the JM21 but I'm back using my trusty Samsung mobile with 500GB loaded with FLAC as it's 100% reliable. JM21 used less and less since I purchased it. I'm holding off buying a DM13 for now as I've read it also has issues clipping the start from CD tracks.
