FiiO releases the new firmware FW1.7.2 for X1 2nd gen
Nov 1, 2016 at 6:05 PM Post #31 of 193
I can't upgrade. It gets stuck at the very final step, when the bar is almost full. Is it supposed to take so long?

Edit: Nevermind, got it to work, it was a format problem.

Hey @FiiO, whenever I run a library update I end up with an Unknown Artist which has an Unknown Album but has no tracks inside, I'm guessing its a little bug, since I'm using the same SD card I used with the original X1 and it didn't show it.

Hi, gonzoznog
whenever I run a library update I end up with an Unknown Artist which has an Unknown Album but has no tracks inside
----Do you mean the library update can't update all your files? You can see the artist and album name when updating the library? Or you mean you will find an unknown artist from category?

With firmware 1.3.3 my X1ii doesn't wake up from "idle standby". I need to hard reset it every time it goes to sleep. I had to turn off "Idle standby" option.

hi, rogeliodh
Does this issue happen in FW1.2? What is the format of the file you paused before X1II entering 'idle standby'? Could you please send that file to us so we can have a test?

No, the player reads the library just fine all tracks are read and perfectly tagged, but I always end with an empty unknown artist.

Hi, I've re-enabled "idle standby" in FW1.3.3 and it is working perfectly now. Not sure what happened before. Thanks.

I've never bought a DAP beyond a used Ipod 160gb player. An amazon reviewer convinced me to try out the X1-II but I really want what he said is called ReplayGain where it won't require me to constantly adjust volume depending on song etc so it's an even level. I just want this to replace my ipod that stays 24/7 in my car but have been converting more so over to FLAC than mp3 and don't want to convert to ALAC and use ipod. When will this be a feature or should I look at something else in this price range?

Hi, cyris69
The replay gain will be added in the later firmware for X1II. There is in-vehicle mode in X1II and you can get more information from: http://www.fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41636&extra=page%3D1
And it is recommended to have a try in your local store first.

Thanks, would you know an ETA? I'm considering getting it maybe this month. At least where I live in the USA I don't know of any stores who carry FiiO products unless you can inform me if there are.

Hi, cyris69
We will add the replay gain in the later firmware for X1II as soon as possible. You can find whether there are stores in your cities from: http://fiio.net/en/stores. Thank you for your support to FiiO.

I own the X3 II , X1, K5 and just got the X1 II.  I have two issues with the X1 II

1)   The gap less playback does not work.  Most of my music is live and its annoying to hear a gap between every song.

2)    The X1 II has issues playing M3U/M8U playlists.  The X1 II 'forgets' the playlist when it goes to into sleep mode while in the K5.          When it wakes from sleep mode,  it remembers the current album that was playing, but not the playlist.  When the current album is done playing the X1 II stops playing all music.  I have to reload the playlist.

2a)  While playing a playlist, If I change a system option like line out or gap less ,  The X1 II forgets the playlist, but continues playing        the current album.

Outside of the above situations, the playlist works as expected

I really like the full in-line earphone controls (its great changing the volume without pulling the X1 II out of my pocket) and the Bluetooth!

Hi, topohiker
We will try to add the gapless playback in the later firmware as soon as possible.
For the second issue, we will try to confirm it soon. If we can reproduce the issue you describe, we will also try to fix it as soon as possible. And the problem happens when playing a external or internal playlist?

I created the M3U list on my PC and copied it over.  So I guess that's an external playlist.

Hi, topohiker
We fail to reproduce the issue you say.
If you have returned to main interface, and enter the now playing interface, do you press the top right button to return to your playlists? This may not be available. You can scroll the whell to read the whole music in your playlist in now playing interface at that time.
We put some music of different albums in one playlists, then play and pause the music, switch to line out output, return to now playing interface and the playlist can play well. Please tell us your operation if different.
Thank you in advance!

Have you tried using a playlist with the K5 and letting the X1 II go into sleep mode? This always causes the X1 II 'lose' the playlist.

Thank You

Hi, topohiker
We have reported this to the engineer. We will try to fix it in later firmware.

An interesting question. To be honest, I'm not an X1 (or X1 II) power user so at first blush, the behaviour and features between the two devices seem largely the same. I was perfectly content with my X1 and I only upgraded because of the added Bluetooth support. Having said that, here are the differences that I've noticed between the two firmwares:

X1 II does not support ReplayGain (yet; supposedly it's coming); X1 does.
X1 II allows you to switch Line Out mode between Fixed Level and Volume Adjustable; X1 does not
X1 II also has a Fixed Level setting (0db, -3db, and -6db) that the X1 lacks (this is different from the "Fixed volume setting" that both devices have.

But in the grand scheme of things, the X1 and the X1 II both behave pretty much the same from a user interface point of view (as far as I can tell).

One other irritation on the X1 II: Every time you change the "Update Media Library" setting between "Manual" and "Auto", it re-indexes the music library. On the old player, changing the setting didn't cause the library to be re-scanned.

Unfortunately since the Fiio M3 I had the setting will automatically trigger re-scan of the library :/

Hi @FiiO
,

I don't own an X1 Gen II yet but I hope you can help me out to decide whether to buy!

It is a bit hard for me to demo the X1 (available in my country but I have lousy earphones so can't tell much until I upgrade next time)

I read from online reviews there are three main problems with 1.2:
1) When shuffling, going from one track to the next takes 3 seconds?!
2) Touch wheel is hard to use to accurately select items
3) The first few seconds of every song is silent/faded in even when gapless is on/off and fade is on/off (I have this problem with my M3 on FW1.7 too)

Also the M3 specs output impedance as 0.1ohm while the X1 says less than 1ohm. Is the X1 still optimal for driving sensitive IEMs?

Could you or any other headfiers please share with me whether it is fixed! I really loved my Fiio M3 till I sold it for upgrading but if this issues aren't solved I may need to go for a Shanling M1 instead since I have a limited budget.

Thank you in advance :)

Hi, gemmoglock

We received your mail in our mailbox as well. We have replied your fist questions there.

1.Different users seem to prefer different speed of the wheel. We will try to assess and improve it to provide a suitable speed of the whell for most users.

2. We will add the gapless function in later firmware as soon as possible.

3. The drive power not only depends on the output impedance of the headphone output but aslo some other features.
