When I connect an external DAC/amp (Hifiman EF400) to the USB-C socket, the R7 recognises this and automatically switches to USB-C, then all R7 headphone sockets are deactivated. Can I switch manually somewhere, i.e. switch to USB-C or Fiio headphones (DAC/Amp) via software, or do I have to plug in/unplug the USB-C cable every time I want to switch?
Hi, I am thinking of getting an R7 (or R9) and your posts confirm that it is the right choice for my needs.
Have any of you tried with the R7 to use a usb stick for DAB/FM radio tuning (maybe with RTL2832U demodulator and DAB-Z)?
With Android installed this should not be a problem, but I want to see if anyone is using this setup.
I would like if possible to avoid buying a dedicated DAB/FM radio to connect to the amplifier.
Interesting question. In theory it should work. Peripherals seem to function very well. I use a small external CD drive to rip CDs with my R7 and it's excellent.
But with radio, why not just use internet radio stations?

Can anyone tell me if the app Poweramp Equalizer works on the R7?
I'm unsure as the Android sound system is bypassed, and this app is a bit finicky about this stuff and needs to be allowed access to the system. So if anyone has first hand experience, that would be great.
Or knowledge of another parametric EQ that works on the R7.

Just to have it ... I'm an old school man.
In any case, if the Internet were to go down, the radio would work.
However, if you use it as a cd ripper, I would say that for dab radio there is a good chance.

Thanks a lot for your reply, I'm just about to buy the R7
Is there any available information on this EQ?
Do you know if it's system wide, or if it only works through the Fiio app?
Edit: Found it, it's global, which is fantastic
Has anyone tested the EQ? It works on the headphone outputs, but it has no effect when using an external DAC, via USB.
Is this only via USB or does EQ not work at all if the internal DAC isn't used?
Hi, go gentle - the answer may be in the previous 61 pages, but I'm keen to get this answer so I can potentially get one for Christmas. So...my use-case is whether the R7 will cast/stream? from the R7 to 3 separate rooms with A1MR Audio Engine wifi speakers. In other words, they have no physical connections, no bluetooth, but are DLNA and AirPlay compatible. Also, would I need an Android app to send the music out to the speakers? Any help really appreciated! Merry Christmas.

Yes, you can basically do the same things on the R7 as you can on you phone. The R7 really is just an Android phone wrapped in a case and optimized for music playback. The app you install on it, say Tidal, is the same as you would install on your phone and had the same options. So you can choose to cast the stream from the R7 to any receivers you might have. Chromecast, Tidal Connect and AirPlay should all be supported.
