FiiO Q7 Portable Desktop-Class DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread

Moving it back and forwards, then it double jumps up two. Obviously not a real use case but when in menus it double jumps menu options etc. It wasn’t doing it before but if it’s expected and just some wear maybe I don’t send it back…?
Does it do the same problem if you move it slower whilst menu scrolling (normal use case)?

Id try some pressures air on the volume through the cracks carefully though. Try to work it back and forth but in longer distances and slowly for a bit and see if it settles.

Even RME ADI2 dac had similar prob over time the resistors can become less sensitive or something - which is why they allow in fw user set tolerances to adjust for variability to fix it

Yeah it does it when doing it slowly. Will try some compressed air, maybe Fiio can add something to the fw if this will have the same problem.

Compressed air did the trick thanks! Doing the same thing in the video and it stays put, no double inputs.

if it’s quite regular it can get annoying. Let’s see if someone else reports it being a problem.

My FiiO M11 Pro volume scroll stopped working properly 90% of the time with same problem. They should do buttons if they can’t design durable volume scrolls.

Glad to hear it. As an unrelated question can I ask if you can control its volume via the Bluetooth FiiO app like a remote (for when I use it as a hifi setup with speakers)? I’m holding it buying one until I find out about this (and still thinking about Bluetooth only eq limitation)

Nope, no volume option in the app unfortunately.

Thanks… that’s a shame, another missed opportunity like the lack of non Bluetooth eq.

I see you have the Mojo 2 - which one comes up on top audio quality/pleasure wise for you?

Mojo2 but I find myself using the Q7 more as it’s easier to control (and it’s pretty close audio wise). I use the Bluetooth receiver a lot at work as well.

Anyone had the volume control knob skipping / registering multiple inputs after the firmware update?
I got the Q7 over the weekend and my new unit also skips 1-2 stops when I move the wheel once. Either it is too sensitive or its a limitation to the design. I also have a Burson Conductor 3X Performance that does it. With that unit, it sometimes move backward 1 stop even though I was moving the wheel forward.

Thank you. Not ideal but saves me being without my Q7 for a few weeks!

BTW mine seems to be more reliable when controlling volume. Scrolling down the menu is a different matter. It skips 1-2 stops even as I carefully move the wheel. I think it must be firmware related although I am unsure if it can be resolved.

Does anyone experiment with the new 2nd harmonic controller?

Is the PEQ fixed band or can you choose frequency band you want? Also, how many bands do you get, and what is the maximum q value?
Dear friend,

10 bands are supported. Q value supports 0.25-8.00.

Best regards

Mine is certainly broken unfortunately, RMA’ing.

Here is what the volume knob does when moving backwards and forwards in the same spot:

Dear friend,

It is normal. When moving the volume knob backwards and forwards rapidly, the system response will have small delay. If this phenomenon happens when moving the volume knob slowly, it may be a hardware issue with the volume knob.

Best regards

I tried but I don't hear any difference. I kept it at the default which is Level 0. What about you?
