Was a Fast Forward option ever implemented? This device is really handicapped because of that. I listen to long form podcasts and it would really be helpful. My current firmware doesn't seem to have one.
Dear user,

You could move the progress bar in the now playing page to adjust the playback location:

It's been a long time than we dont have a new Fw on the M5 in comparison of others Fiio's DAP.
I wish to see in the next firmware :
- Fixed usb audio output for DACs that have a physical volume control.
- the possibility to play/browse all the songs of an artist

I just bought an M5 and am disappointed by the inability to play all the songs within a folder with nested folders. For example, I have a folder called Favorite Songs, and in that folder are various subfolders with songs organized by artist. There doesn't seem to be a way for me to just play all of the songs in that Favorite Songs folder because everything in it is further organized into subfolders. Nor is there a way to select all of the subfolders and add them to a playlist (it actually does let me select the subfolders and add them as a batch to a playlist, but nothing shows up in the playlist even though it says "Batch addition successful" or something to that effect; the batch addition appears to actually work only if actual music files are selected and doesn't work by selecting folders).

FiiO releases the new firmware FW1.4.6 for M5, new added user defined EQ, replay gain!

The following changes and improvements have been made to the FW1.4.6 compared to the FW1.3.2 on M5:

1. Added a battery level display icon on the lock screen clock page.
2. Added a new option of "Long press volume button" in the System Settings menu, where users can decide which function to achieve by long pressing the volume button under bright or off screen. (Adjust volumes, switch tracks, fastforward/rewind are available.)
3. Added a new function of Replay Gain (in the Playing Settings menu).
4. Added a new function of user defined EQ.
5. Fixed the issue where the system would be stuck at the Welcome page after the device turned on.
6. Fixed the issue where cue files could be repeatedly put in My Favorites.
7. Fixed the issue where errors might happen when switching / skipping tracks and in UI display.
8. Fixed the issue where specific operations might cause a frozen system.
9. Miscellaneous bug fixes and performance improvements.

Note: For the stability improvement of the M5 system, the software has readjusted the system partitions. So, it would be impossible to revert the firmware once upgrading to the newest one. (A prompt of UPDATE FAIL would pop up if reverting the firmware.)

M5 FW1.4.6: Click here

How to upgrade M5:

Upgrade when the M5 is on: Copy the firmware file to the root directory of the Micro SD card, go to system settings and click system upgrade.

Upgrade when the M5 is off: Copy the firmware file to the root directory of the Micro SD card, turn it off then hold the volume up button and power button to enter upgrade mode and release the button.

Quite the contrary, actually – it has some new ones.
For example, I cannot save my settings in regards to Sleep Mode, Clock design and Volume button anymore – every time I restart the DAP they are exactly the same as they were before the change.
And the issue with Russian folders hasn't been fixed – they are somewhere in the middle of the list and not in the alphabetical order.

FiiO, I'm your loyal customer but shame on you this time

I too was having an issue with the latest build with various settings not saving. I did a factory reset and from then on it remembered my various settings.

For me it seems to be fixed everything I've reported.
Didn't had however enough time to play with it to find the new ones.
Maybe I'm cursed but
  • I cannot upgrade from 1.4.6 to 1.4.7 – it says "No update file"
  • DAP regularly skips 1st second of the track and 1.4.6 doesn't fix this
  • Russian folders are located in random order and 1.4.6 doesn't fix this
  • I cannot change my system settings, I cannot even restore them to defaults – this issue came with 1.4.6
