I am planning on using it as a bluetooth receiver to watch TV when the family's sleeping. Does it support A2DP Bluetooth profile? I can't find the information anywhere. I was lurking at the btr3, but this M5 is teasing me with the extra functionalities.

I edited my earlier post to take out the 5th point. No the M5 does not support dual connection via Bluetooth (Multipoint). This is a huge Shame. The CSR8675 chip supports this feature. I have a cheap no name receiver that supports this. It appears Fiio deliberately underutilized the potential of this device. That's a shame. I'll probably buy the BTR3 or 5 if it launches soon. The lack of multipoint just wrecked it for me. I've got 3 Bluetooth devices that connect to just one device, I really do not need another. Will probably leave this in the car or something like that.
I am really disappointed in this. Waited for so long and it comes up short.

After buying the Shanling M0, Fiio M5, and having the M2x on the way, I found the HIDIZS AP80. This has everything I was looking for: BT Transport (output to USBC with connected to phone via BT) AND the ability to control the device from my phone via HiBY Link. I'm eager to compare the AP80 to the M2x. For now, The AP80 finally scratched all the itches I had.

Considering the M5 doesn't have the multifunctional button like the BTR3, we did not add this function in the M5. You may try the BTR3 instead~
Best regards

when will this be out in japan?
How well will this connect to a bluetooth headphone when powered on or in standby mode? The Shanling M0 always requires at least two button presses to actually get a paired bluetooth device to play, even if no headphones are plugged into the 3.5mm jack and the only way it could be playing is over the single paired bluetooth device.
Also, can you confirm that this is an issue? A click in the right channel. Exists with the most current firmware version 1.2.0 so maybe could be fixed in a future version?

We have designed a new kits for M5 and should be available soon. it will be more stable and look better and you can also buy a 3rd-party band and replace by yourself.

Very happy with the M5 and it's adaptability with headphones.
Wether it be sensitive electrostatic IEMs (Moondrop Solis) or my Planar Hifiman Sundara, it's able to power all with no noise, hiss, or noticeable artifacts.
Good impedance matching throughout. Obviously the Sundara isn't a 300+ Ohm unit and is decently sensitive but still nice the M5 can power them. I'm at around volume 42/60 with most songs on them.
UI is fast but has some false hits sometimes due to small surface area of the screen.
USability with an angled 3.5mm connector is kind of poor. I can barely change the volume and putting the angled connector in any other angle causes the M5 to be propped up as the cable and jack provide leverage towards the lightweight M5.
As for the silicone band that came seperately, I can't use it. It just feels yucky to my skin, the type of material is just something I can't mentally adapt to or like.

Hiii Guys...
I have a plan to buy this product (FiiO M5) ...
But, previously I want to ask in detail, whether the FiiO M5 can be fully used on Android devices: Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (which supports Bluetooth V5.0), as a cable receiver or full wireless) ???
And FiiO M5 is in what Bluetooth version of Guys, and why do most brands do not publicly list the Bluetooth version : Bluetooth V4.0, V4.1, V4.2 or V5.0 ???
Previously I used Earphone Brand: Shure SE215, combined with 2 cable Premium Brand: Hebra Definition Origin8 Braid cable, 3.5mm Oyaide Palladium AP Plug Jack + Hebra Definition Sonar Rattlesnake cable, 3.5mm Oyaide Palladium PP Plug Jack + HIDIZS DAC Cable Sonata II ... ☺
Please reply & best input Guys, and various experiences in different devices & other earphones in full, with different problem cases ...

You can use the M5 to receive BT from any BT phone and play using the M5's internal DAC/Amp. I did this with my Essential as its missing a headphone output (even if it had one, its pretty trash).
I think 4.2

Thanks in response Guys ... I was confronted with 3 choices of portable mini DAP & DAC which became a package (3 in one), between Shaning M0, FiiO M5 & Hadizs AP80, and still waiting for a choice of DAC cable dongle from iBasso DC02 3.5mm .. Because of these three portables there are plus mines: M0 is only at BT V4.0 (No full support Aptx-HD & Effect frequency: 20HZ ~ 20KHz), AP80 BT V4.1 (Absence / lack of accessories in Clipcase / hooks to be dressed accordingly my passion & activities, if I'm not mistaken, not yet full Aptx-HD support too) & M5 BT V4.2 ... If I force to take between the 3 choices, I want to take M5 BT is very responsible, there are still many possibilities in the portable that will be come they can adjust for 1001℅ full pure devices Hi-Res & Hi-Fi BT V5.0 + Aptx-HD into a package for the mini size DAC AMP (This is a benchmark of conspicuous shortcomings according to me personally, directly or indirectly directly, some well-known Brands do not include a complete description of the BT version they use based on Hardware, which makes us wonder) ... Like a basic puzzle game & sometimes quite trap which one should be worthy of being chosen ... If I may ask, is there a comparison especially of the 3 portable totality above with the cable type dongle from iBasso 32-bit DC02 and Spectra X 32-bit Guys ???
Please guide & the best solution, since I am a new user especially for DAC & DAP mini size ... Previously I was not interested in jumbo size DAP or type of headphones, more interested with earphones that are small, simple, practical & high-quality, certainly according to taste, passion & needs in one package, to be attached to clothes, which almost rarely people think in a mature & simple, detailed & deep, to avoid outside the pocket (because often plug jacks in particular the 3.5mm straight plug jack model is bent / bent / broken when sitting activities using a mobile device in a fairly dense jeans bag, as well as driving a vehicle such as motorized & lost sound next to the earphone, which has become a severe trauma for me, a variety of models replace the plug jack class Premium or Standard) ... ☺

Try the search. People that have the M0 already compared. Dunno about the AP80.
