[FiiO M5] Compact and Versatile Hi-Res Music Player

I think my biggest grip with the player so far is there is NO, and I mean ZERO way to navigate a large media library fast. There needs to be a A-Z indicator on the right side for scrolling or ever a scroll bar that one can grab and quick scroll with. Another major annoyance with the software is the swipe left from the now playing screen, it takes you back to the beginning of all the songs NOT where you last were: so if you scroll super far and pick a song it goes right back to the start..... UGH. Again no fast way to navigate.

The now playing screen needs to have the scroll bar with the navigation buttons and the shuffle, add to fav, and add to play list needs to be on the other screen. I do not want to keep swiping between screens to scroll in a song or in a audio book. I like the tap to hid controls and swipe for next and previous songs, however, it needs to be a setting or feature that can be turned on or off with a time-out for hiding the controls or always show.

So far all of my complaints are software and so far I can say the M5 sounds better (a little) than the M0 but, the M0 has a custom EQ which almost makes up for the sound gap (for me at least) and the M0 can navigate much faster. Software wish lists from users on head-fi for the M0 have already been almost filled. But, however good the M5 sounds makes the toss up between sending it back and getting something else, or if we have to wait who knows how many months down the road to get the features that should have been released with the player in the first place. I'm patient but not that patient. like the M0 it took almost a year to get the custom EQ that was promised almost at launch idk.... Just rambling now and being mad.....*sigh*
Dear friend,

Thanks for your kind feedback.

We will report to the engineer for checking first.

I fail to reproduce this you mentioned. Are you using the lateset FW1.3.0 version?

Best regards

I am wondering if someone could help me. I just received my M5 and I have a mac. I uploaded some mp3s through the SD slot on my computer. On two albums, songs are showing up as "Unknown artist" but the rest of the album loaded under the correct artist and album name. How could I fix this?

Additionally, I listen to some music in Spanish and it seems that this little device does not like accents. Is there a way to fix this?

This seems to be an issue in the "Category," folder but the accents and the "Unknown artist" issues do not show up if I search the "Browse Files" folder.

This is my first non-iPod DAP so any info would be greatly appreciated!
Dear friend,

Please share the files to us via support@fiio.com. Thanks in advanced!

Best regards

Dear friend,

I am sorry and yes, 1.2.0.

But the swipe left from the now playing screen, it takes me back to where I last was:

Or maybe I failed to get your point?

Best regards

No, its not your fault. I need to be more specific. This is just for "all songs." If you navigate anywhere and then go back to the now playing screen and swipe left, it does not save your position from the 'all songs,' its not a bug but an annoyance for navigation. I feel like no matter where you navigate in the player it should always be able to remember your last position in the 'all songs' list, not restart it. I navigate by all songs sorted alphabetically. This could be alleviated if there was a quicker way to browse all songs.

Dear friend,

Coaxial output is not supported in Bluetooth receiver mode.

Best regards

Dear FiiO,

coaxiall/USB output is not supported in bluetooth receiver mode can be fixable or hardware limitaion? I'm not sure the architecture of FiiO M5 and Shanling M0 are the same or not but Shanling M0 can have USB output in bluetooth receiver mode, so FiiO M5 should be able too?

Best regard,

Dear friend,

Since the Bluetooth receive function of M5 is implemented by the CSR8675, and the Coaxial/USB Output is implemented by the SOC, and the SOC and CSR8675 work independently on M5, so Coaxiall/USB Output can't be supported in bluetooth receiver mode.

Can you use the M5 as a USB DAC/Amp with the Nintendo Switch. I know the BTR3 can, but I've heard somebody state the M5 will not work. Is this true?

Ya, it won't work, for now. IF, Fiio decides to program in some other features it might work. I believe it would need usb dongle style support for it to recognize the Switch.

Good! to know they both work together, now Curious how much Battery life you're getting over LDAC w/ the DC01 attached!

Do share the info when you get a chance

I didn't try it myself but someone in another audio community said the DC01 and M5 only lasted 1 hour before the battery getting very low.

By the way, the M5 doesn't support usb audio when used in bluetooth receiver mode.
