Can anybody shed a light on the reason why Fiio only had this in production for less than a year.
seems alarmingly short to be honest.
I have one of these and am fairly happy with it, besides some design decisions on the firmware side.
Controlling the device is pain in the butt (everytime you select a new song you have to start from the top level of the device.... why?), but the sound quality makes up for it.

I'm just worried if I'm going to run into strange isuses with this thing if Fiio decided to pull the plug on it so fast.
It's not even shown on their site anymore.
I've had this happen with other devices in the past where they where brand new and after only a few months the manufacturer acted like the device didn't exist.

I've had mayor issues with the devices back then, that's why I'm curious to see the reason here.
The M3 is juts begging for a firmware upgrade to fix some poor design decisions.... please Fiio, don't abandon the M3 just yet.

The UI that asks you to start from step 1 to select song is the main reason i used X1 much more than M3 haha.. but as long as you configure your fav playlist and play the playlist M3 is better in term of portability.its so small and portable..

On the other hand I feel a bit confused when I try using the X1 II the day before, it always bring me to the album list and not the menu, I was quite annoyed having to press back a couple of times just to change to a completely different album from a different artist
Fiio need to bring uniformity and most importantly, intuitive and familiar UI navigation design for their next devices for sure... I hope they settle on one fast.

Hi, Sp12er3
You can hold the back button (top right one) to return directly to the main menu of the X1I. You can get more usages of the X1II from the manual: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x3zv862oadmq78o/X1II%20User%20Manual.pdf?dl=0

Oh, that's good then.. The UI just need to get used to I guess.. Coming from m3 and used an Ipod Nano before it, the navigation doesn't come instantly like 2nd nature, other quirk i have is can't change the volume using the wheel when screen is on, it does work when off and i suppose there's an option somewhere for that.

Hi, Sp12er3
You need to press the volume first then you can scroll the wheel to adjust the volume. It may not be available to adjust the volume by using the wheel when the screen is off.

Result, it's a bit better now that some songs that's a bit problematic before (hissing sound when played) are not giving any hiss, but it's still unplayable (format error, the hissing is replaced by empty passage, while the player still displays that its playing, with duration countdowns) , we'll at least it's less annoying when I hit them, and I did find downsampling them works

And there is still an issue where if you have more than one album where the first few words are the same, my example "Bleep Top 100 Tracks..." then followed by the year. If you search in Albums there is only one listing because it doesn't show the whole name and all the track ones are listed then all track twos etc. I had forgotten about this problem. The thing is we have waited such a long time for 1.9 from 1.7 and from what people have said they are not making the M3 anymore so I can't imagine there being another firmware for it.

And what about the M3 not displaying more than a dozen or so characters?

Dear TheoS53
It seems to be the reason for the problem Pual Davidson have. We will try to fix that issue in later firmware.
Best regards

Good to see a new update to the firmware. However, the two most significant issues since day one for me are songs playing in alphabetical order, and the very small font which is almost impossible to read if your eyes are a little older than the engineers....
Still good to know Fiio is looking at the M3
