Actually I still have the bug although less often. Dear Fiio, is there any hope for a new theme? Something easy to read. White font on black background. Thicker font. Text only. No image, no cover. Think quick and easy. That would be a dream.

Dear noknok23,

Thank you for the kind feedback. We have reported this to the designers.

Best regards

Are there going to be any more firmware updates for the M3?

Two things that really annoy me

1. After selecting an album to play, you have to go back to the main menu and then navigate all the way through the folders to choose another album. Why can't you just go back a step to the parent folder with all your albums instead of having to go folder>SD card>album>*the album you want to play*

2. Not sure if this is a bug or not but after charging the M3, when you unplug the USB cable it will start playing after updating the library. This happens regardless of resume mode being turned off or on, if you don't remember to stop the player from playing after unplugging the USB you are left with a dead battery.

These two things seem like they could be resolved with a firmware update to me. The last firmware release was December last year so it has been a while since the M3 got an update.

Don't bargain on it. One thing I've come to learn about Fiio is that they don't particularly care if there are issues with older devices... Once they've started working on a new product, everything else takes a back seat, irrespective of whether or not they actually have an obligation to fix issues or introduce features which were advertised originally

That's totally not true. Fiio releses FW updated for older devices, often adding new functionality. First gen. of X3 received DSD support, DAC functionality, new UI, and part of those was introduced after X3-2 release. Same for X5 1st gen.
M3 isn't a good example, as many of it's issues are caused by chipset limitation. It's a pity that there is no good chipset for such low-end devices, but anyway, M3 is pretty usable, especially for it's price.

Definitely 2 issues that would be nice to have fixed, and shouldn't be impossible, certainly the second problem really needs a fix.
Fiio, please try to do at least that.

I recently acquired my second M3. Has 1.5 firmware. I am unable to update to 1.9. Used 32gb, 16gb, 8gb SD cards of SanDisk, Samsung, transcend. Formatted the cards in the M3. Copied the hex file and an mp3. Whenever I go to update, it says 'no file found'.

I don't understand this. With my first M3 I had no problems stepping my way through the updates as they came.

Do I need to go from 1.5 to an intermediate version before I can go to 1.9?

Not making sense.

Dear RameshK,
Please copy M3.hex to the root directory of the internal storage of the M3, not the external one.

Just dug this out from the drawer, only to remember why it was in there in the first place, Why are tags such a ballache? You thought it was a good idea to use filenames instead of tags!?!

Is there a fix for this without renaming everything.

Is there an updated M3 coming out soon?  I recommended the M3 to a coworker and we can't even get it. B&H Photo is an authorized Fiio retailer and they said it's no longer available.

I't been discontinued. If you're looking for a fairly cheap player with lots of features and better sound quality than the M6, I can recommend the Hidizs AP60
