Of course, but you know somehow he'll make it Biden's fault.
I'm not US citizen but beyond orange man bad you guys thinks it should let the debt run free and not deal with import/export imbalance?

Is there any review yet of the M21, I'm considering another more portable dap and this could make it.

Also is the PEQ sys wide or fiio player only?

It's just fine to work on the trade imbalance, as a rational, thoughtful, strategic adult and negotiator. There should be talks and agreements and a plan to rollout the changes over a known schedule not the wake up each day and it's completely changed whipsaw that has paralyzed most large business investment and killed or will kill many small businesses that rely on imports.

Edit: Added graphic of daily medium incomes around the globe over the past 20 years. I'd argue the rich get richer and the poor get ever so slightly less poor. I'm very fortunate that I was born in the US of white parents that loved and supported me. I've earned everything I have but wow did I have a massive head start of so many, many others on the planet.

Also, generally part of the requirement for trying to negotiate something like a trade imbalance/etc. is having some sort of position of strength. In the case of the US, basically everyone (or, almost everyone), understands that there are core fundamental issues that would need to be addressed before getting into that position - i.e. shoring up the manufacturing base, investing more in education to create a populace that has the skills needed for more complex manufacturing, etc. Without that, most threats are pretty hollow.

I completely agree but it's clearly and painfully obvious that none of this is part of the administration's goal.

Here's another graphic that shows China prepared for this...we certainly did not. Americans like very much inexpensive stuff but we certainly don't want to make it ourselves.

Here's an interesting data point - when I had to reformat my JM21 recently I also reformatted my 1TB memory card and set it up as internal storage. Doing this made the download speed for Tidal tracks about 5x faster than saving to the same card formatted as external storage. The slower speed was the same as that on other devices using the microSD card as external storage. I would guess that the same results would be achieved by doing the same with the M21 but with tariffs being what they are for now, I probably won't get to test that any time soon.

I've read this is a failing in the code of the app. They're clearly treating the two (internal vs external) differently since it occupies the same physical bus connection internally. Android OS may not help either. I suppose it could introduce latency when reading/writing from or to 'external' storage making the issue worse. Thankfully, at the data rates required to playback music it's really a moot point but waiting for downloads 5x is a drag.

Just know that by formatting as internal the OS will expect it to be there at boot up and may/will complain or may not boot at all and you can't pull it out and read it or write to it on another computer (like to add music) as it's part of another/existing OS partition.

Your reference article is for Android 6...and this is Android 13. I have to believe that there have been more than a few changes to how storage is managed.

On the JM21 when you open Storage in settings it shows internal storage (This Device) as 32GB. Where it gets interesting is when you select the SD card and it shows 2.0TB of total storage with 1.4TB used (completely wrong). Checking the About Device page and it reflects internal storage as 2.0TB(?). When you open the Files app - it only shows Internal Storage (629GB free - which is probably correct based on the music downloaded) tapping on the apps category shows tabs for installed apps, system apps and APK's. not perfect but a better read...

I can say through testing that the same speed issues exist for Amazon Music and Qobuz as well. Maybe it has to do with how Android manages storage identified as internal vs. storage identified as external. Maybe there is some code that possibly throttles the write speed to external memory to minimize write errors? I find it hard to believe that 3 different applications would demonstrate the same behavior when writing to external storage unless it was OS related.

The physical interface to the microsd card and the flash storage on the card is far, far slower than the (likely) UFS controller for internal flash. Some of my readings have implied that formatting microsd as internal will slow everything down to a slower speed than was possible without it. Just one of those choices one has to make...

So far, I have seen no buffering issues, zero degredation in performance, system response or application behavior. Time will tell...

and you won't until the real internal storage reaches capacity or close to capacity and then has to spill over to the microsd.

Well I should be good then. I only use the device as a DAP and do not use it for any other purpose. No movies, no web, no pictures and no games. It also seems that it knows to write downloaded music to the microSD as it still shows 13GB of internal memory as free and there is a LOT more than that I have downloaded to storage.

On the Fiio official Store here :

https://a.aliexpress.com/_EygEg5c
(I cannot target the link of Fiio Store, so I put the page of a random product on their store)

I cannot see any M21 on sale.
I ask myself why they wait so long to put it on sale on their official website in countries other than CN... 🙄
They state there are a lot of unofficial sellers of their products, but if the devices were available on official website or resellers from the beginning there would be less "unofficial" stores, no ?

For the DM13, since the release in the beginning of November 2024, it's never been available in France or EU for months...
At the beginning of February 2025, I finally found it at a reasonable price on Ali, from a random seller... I took the risk and it's OK up to now. I checked yesterday and it is listed but still unavailable in French stores 🙄
