How close does the M17 get to the performance of AIO desktop setups such as the Rme adi? I own an M11 pro and a Chord Mojo but I’d like an upgrade for my office.

I replaced an RME ADI-2 FS with the M17 and it was seamless. I don't think it is necessarily going to improve on the RME for you, but it increases flexibility (transportable and balanced) without a performance penalty.

What have people noticed in terms of break-in … duration, tonal balance etc?
I'm a couple of hundred hours in on the M17 and for me there is no difference.

That's not what I was hoping to hear. I'm not very impressed after 30 hours.
That’s a shame. I was pretty happy out of the box with the M17.

It only comes into its own after 31 hours.

But seriously, what don't you like?

Lack of bass mostly - at least with my Stellias. Not sure if it's a synergy thing.

After 16 hours or so the sound was pretty grainy and lacked good instrument separation (i.e. not a very quiet noise floor). Very 'mid-fi' compared to my SP2000. So I let it play for another day. That aspect might have improved but it still sounds anemic to me. Again, that part might be synergy. Note that I'm using it on battery only (I'm only interested in the mobile aspect of it).
