Go to settings, system, system update. If you are connected to wifi, it should update without all that fuss
Thanks for your response, but this does not work. It doesn’t bring up any update. It’s the Fiio music app update they announced a couple of pages ago, 3:0:9.
I followed the advice about connecting the M17 to the computer, and transferring the file to the internal storage, and then locating the APK on the device and installing it.
I transferred the file to the M17 (to internal storage but correctly I don’t know) then disconnect and enter ES file explorer, then locate Fiio music app and click install.
That‘s the part I don’t know how to do - how do I enter File Explorer and see the Fiio music app to select to the downloaded APK to then Click install.
It can’t be this difficult!
The system update you suggested is for system-wide firmware update, not the Fiio music update.
This is driving me nuts!

I dragged the update APK to the device and it gets moved to Downloads in the window.
I disconnect from computer.
If I go to System Update, choose internal storage and click Downloads, there’s nothing there.
I have no idea how to locate the APK on my M17 to then install it.
EDIT - After all that, and not having a clue as to how to follow the steps they outline three pages ago, the damn thing just did it anyway.
My M17 was sat there while I was thinking, and a window just opened on the screen asking if I wanted to upgrade to 3.0.9!
The really frustrating thing is that if one goes to the screen that checks if there is any update to Fiio music, it doesn’t do anything! Clicking on check for update does nothing, unlike when checking for new system update, which it does allow you to do.
I’ve just lost several hours to something that should be minutes in the doing.

Wow, that was a very complicated way to go about it. I just opened the M17 Chrome browser, clicked the link and, downloaded the file directly to the M17. Finding and installing the update was very straight forwards.

Yeah, tell me about it!
I really don’t understand where I was going wrong, and I’d be curious to know how folks got that update installed.
I did try using the Chrome browser to go to the update page and download it, but for some reason it wouldn’t download. I have no idea why.
I’m genuinely confused, because I am generally okay with computers and other devices, but I was simply unable to follow the steps outlined in the post three pages ago for the update to the music app.
As to why a window spontaneously opened asking me if I wanted to update, I don’t know but I wish it had done so earlier.
And thank you again for your help.

While playing DSD512 file via FiiO Music app (3.0.9 version) on top panel sampling rate shows 176.4K, but when playing via UAPP top panel shows 352.8K. Is this ok?

It’s a bug. If you look at my internal storage/download screen capture, it says I am playing a 384K file when in actuality, I was playing a 44k 16bit CD file. Closing and re-opening the player showed the right bit rate

I don't think the M17 can handle correctly more than DSD256 without being connected to an external DAC via USB port

Would that be a USB C to USB B cable?
