I just received an M17. It’s my first portable player. I bought it for a bedroom rig. Not something to take outside.

I don’t think I really understand it‘s use and am probably sending it back.

I’d like to control the music from another device, like my iPhone or iPad- as a Roon endpoint, as a Tidal Connect device etc. It seems like it can be controlled only from the device itself. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Hi Zeluiz22,

There are mainly 3 steps.
1. On the FiiO Music app of the M17, Settings->FiiO Link->┆ (on the upper right corner of the display), choosing Bluetooth as the Server.
2.Connect the M17 to the mobile phone through Bluetooth.
3.On the FiiO Music app of the mobile phone, Settings->FiiO Link->┆ (on the upper right corner of the display), choosing Bluetooth as the Client.

Notes: iPhones only support FiiO Link WiFi function but not Bluetooth.

Here is the video tutorial about FiiO Link Bluetooth function:

There are mainly 3 steps.
1.Make sure the M17 and your mobile phone are connected to the same WiFi network.
2.On the FiiO Music app of the M17, Settings->FiiO Link->┆ (on the upper right corner of the display), choosing WiFi as the Server. Now an IP address will show up.
3. On the FiiO Music app of the mobile phone, Settings->FiiO Link->┆ (on the upper right corner of the display), choosing WiFi as the Client. Input the IP address in the pop-up dialog and complete the connection.

No, that's not the issue.

The issue is :
I start the M17. It is plugged to DC. The side lights goes ON.

I go to : Parameter / Display / Indicator Light Control / Side ambient light / Charging : I put Off.
The side light goes OFF. That's normal.

But after restart, the Value is back to Constantly on. Which is the issue. It does not keep the value Off.
So I have to turn that parameter off each time I'm using the M17 at night. :frowning2:
Dear friend,

Does this issue happen when the battery is fully charged or reaching the setting value in charging optimization? At that time, it is normal that the indicator light will be constant on. We have reported to the engineer for assessing whether changing this design. Thanks for the feedback and sorry if bringing the incoveneience.

Best regards

@FiiO is there a way to reinstall the previous firmware?
Dear friend,

If you would like to reinstall the FW1.0.1 firmware, you could download it via this link: http://fiio-file.fiio.net/M17-update-1.0.1.zip
Local upgrade
The M17 can be upgraded locally by a firmware package. Download the firmware package file and copy it to the internal storage of the M17 or an SD card. Go to the "Technical Support->Firmware Upgrade->Local Upgrade" menu, and find the firmware package file to start the upgrade.
Best regards

Streaming this very good album via Qobuz through UAPP on M17 in DC mode, enhanced gain at 70/100 with the parametric EQ settings shown above (would be at vol 55 without EQing), to push the Dunu Luna to ultra clean LIVE levels

Love the powerful restitution, I'm always amazed at how well these inears scale on such great gear

Also fully agree with @Currawong on the M17 / D8000 Pro synergy, it's particularly beautiful ❤️

It happens in charging optimization, while the battery is supposed not to be in charging mode.
Charging optimisation set to 60%
Battery level : 82%
The M17 is not charging the battery, but the light turns on.

Any news from the compatible with DSD version of Neutron player for M17 ?

Jan 21, 2022 at 8:19 AM Post #2,321 of 5,692
FiiO player or UAPP does not play DSD files the right way? Maybe I'm missing smth here...
FIIO Player can play DSD perfectly, but this player is a real pain to be used to access my Upnp servers (Synology) as it doesn't memorize at all the path. Moreover, it's like UAPP, both players can't become DLNA renderers when the M17 is on his desktop stand connected to some external amps, and I use my smartphone (mconnect) or my computer to play music and send flac or dsd to the M17.
Neutron, can almost do every thing perfectly except playing DSD in native move with the actual version.
