Hello,

Does anyone try M17 with Fiio FH7? Is my favorite iem (especially with green filters, because is more airy and have more details), I want to buy M17 when will be back in stock. I currently use Xduoo XD05 Bal when i'm not at desk, at desk I use Topping D/A30 Pro stack.
Also I will use it with Hifiman HE6SE v2.

Thanks!

There is Poweramp EQ, which has a system wide parametric EQ. Not sure if it works with Apple Music, you may have to enable detection on a computer. I did however have some issues using it with Qobuz (stream would stall at the beginning of songs if sampling rate changed), so am now using Wavelet. But it might not be an issue for you and Apple Music.
Was just about to recommend Poweramp EQ. I tried this some time ago and did not work with Apple Music. Recently, they added PEQ and works with Apple Music with a recommended work around - enable crossfade, use 1 sec if you don't like the effect. It seems Apple Music doesn't do a good job of notifying when there are track changes so adding the crossfade prevents EQ from turning off inadvertently. I can confirm this works and using it with LCDi4 which is easy to tell if EQ is enabled or not. Power EQ has a visualizer that will indicate it's working too.

I have the Fiio M15 and Shanling M8. I do like them both.

However, I want to sell both in order to buy either the Fiio M17 or Shanling M9.

Can someone tell why I should buy the M17 instead of the M9? What would be your 3 top arguments?

I'm trying to stream from my M17 to a PS Audio PerfectWave DirectStream DAC to see what both are capable of. Using USB-C out of M17 going to USB-A in the back of the DirectStream DAC. Can anyone tell me the settings on the M17 to enable the sound? USB is recognised on the DirectStream DAC but no sound from Amazon Streaming.
Do I use the USB Host or the other USB-C? Using Fiio Play or Nuetron works no problem but not Streaming via Amazon. Anyone know of why this may be?

Yes, it's an issue for me too, with amazon Music & Qobuz only the left side USB-C can stream out to an external DAC (the right side USB-C can work with UAPP, BubbleUpnp, Neutron)..
Unfortunately, the right side USB-C port is incompatible with the DC Input, to be able to keep the external power supply active... Battery with go down if you use an external DAC on the left USB-C.

How do you stream your Amazon Music out via the left USB-C? I've tried and toggled all settings to no avail.

-> M17 is the only available rather compact portable DAP that can move properly demanding Headphones like the HEDDphone One and DCA Stealth (2x3W)
-> M17 has a dedicated DC input and a desktop stand which allow using the M17 at office or home plugged without destroying the battery at all and still keeping it charged in a safety mode (80%).
-> M17 has 2xUSB-C input/output for using external SSD, DAC and still be powered. Sound can even be improved by using the DC input with a 12V/3A power supply (extension in ultra low frequencies with impressive fast and clear impacts for a portable player).

and a last advantage .. M17 is bit perfect compatible (DSD Native) with Neutron Player, probably the best player on the market for large libraries on external SSD, and is also compatible with some system level DSP like Wavelet or PowerampEQ (For Qobuz or Amazon Music).

I stopped using the Amazon service 2 weeks ago and kept Qobuz, so I can't retry it, but it was working like Qobuz => when I plug the external DAC (SMSL SU9 for me) to the left USB-C port, it switches automatically the M17 output to this port. When I go back home tonight, I will try it again to confirm it.

Try using the coax output. In Audio settings make sure SPDIF is set to output and coax is enabled (two separate settings). This way, you can power the M17 however you want - USB or DC power. Coax is the better option for external DACs. USB output requires you to set your volume to max which is problematic if you are using the volume wheel. Coax bypasses the digital volume control. In fact you can listen to the M17 headphone output at the same time as coax output. With USB output, it will disable if you plug in a headphone.
