When using the M17 vis its USB-C connection to go into an external DAC are there any manual adjustments to be done? Or is it a case of connect and forget?
Which USB-C socket does one use?

I have not received my M17 yet, but I have downloaded and read the manual entirely; per the manual (pages 4-5) both USB ports are capable of being used as transport to an external DAC. The actual detailed instructions on how to do it is described on pages 49-50.

Hmmm... seems that the Fiio App let's the M17 become the DAC. As in
... you feed thr M17 an external source and it uses its own DAC to decode and then play through the Fiio Music Player. I will read on...

My m17 beast has arrived today. It’s so good! I know it’s expensive but compared to other companies flagship it’s kind of a bargain. Really good sound plus enough power for power much anything. Also looks better in the flesh

Let's just hope we can afford the electricity in the UK to continue to run it

It's ok, bit too loose for me and the bottom has a tendency to open up. Last thing I want is to pick it up and it slides out on to the floor

My M17 is in, I haven't setup or updated it yet, but I have just listened to it via the BAT mode for a while. coming from the FIIO M15, so I'll wait for a few days of burning in before listening to it carefully.

Agreed, I'm not the biggest fan of the current included case.
