FiiO M15S Pocket Desktop-Level Player Discussion & Impressions Thread

The latest version of Tidal is 2.88.1 and requires min. Android 7+ version.
The older version of the flagship DAP FIIO M15 from 2020 (great-sounding, by the way) has Android 7, so this DAP is almost the end of its life.

I can't understand we have 2023 in which android version 14 is already entering the market.
The competition puts at least Android 12 in the premiere audio devices,
and FIIO still uses the flagship DAP FIIO M15s - Android ver. 10??

Yes, I know that Android ver.10 is compatible and manages well, but also not the young Snapdragon 660 processor ....
Well, I'm not convinced.
I am only asking for ~ 1400 Euro for a new device in 2023 for which I am saving, I want to enjoy it, not have a brick to press envelopes.
Dear friend,

The M15S uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. The project supplier provided Android 9 and Android 10 for us based in Snapdragon 660 platform. And we have chosen the latest Android version provided by the supplier for M15S. If the project supplier could provide the new Android support in the 660 platform in the future, we will try to update it for the M15S as well.

Best regards

Si fiio eso me pasa correcto
Dear friend,

I failed to reproduce the problem. You may check whether you have enabled the 'all to dsd'option in the M15s?

Please follow up on this with your supplier and see if you can get an Android 11 or 12 upgrade. Having android 10 is potentially harming your sales.

I'm a loyal FIIO fan but it has
DAPs from subsequent years FIIO M11 Plus Ltd, M11, M11s, M17, despite a large range of premieres, have Sanpdragon 660 on board, and only Android 10 is present, the latest flagship DAP from 2023 FIIO M15s still has ...... Android 10 .

Was there really no opportunity to ask the project supplier before the premiere (from 3 years) and premiere of the M15s or is it possible to upgrade the Android version to higher than 10 at all? .
Certainly on the day of the premiere such information about the planned upgrade of Android information that in six months from the premiere or a year
FIIO will continue to improve the product - this would significantly increase its attractiveness and sales.

I have very little hope for the promise of an upgrade in the current devices on the market and I personally withheld the purchase of the M15s.
I do not know about other audiophiles, but I will wait for the M15s upgrade, or if a higher version of Android min.ver .12 will appear in the FIIO M23 announced for the fall.

Dear friend,

We will try to report to the product manager about that.

También tengo una pregunta TIDAL se escucha en más calidad con DSD encendido o apagado gracias
Dear friend,

Some users feel there is improvement after enabling the All to DSD when playing file via Tidal. You could try and compare by yourself as well.

Best regards

Hi everyone.
I should have asked here since a long time but does anyone hears some little crackling on the left ear when a music is starting? Needs to be quiet music with little volume at the start. I have made multiple tests and now I am sure the FiiO is faulty. I thought it was the headphones at a time, or the amp. But now I could cross all the possible combinations and found the guilty. When I switch to another song, I also ear a « crack ». Mainly on the left too.
Firmware is up to date.
Thanks

For me this only happens when relays are switching, i.e. when starting to play DSD while I'm playing 44/16 (or any PCM combination) or vice versa, or when you're playing at one sampling rate and start playing something at another sampling rate. Otherwise it's not the case.

Resampling and popping a fraction of a second before a song starts many people have asked and called it "pop"
- when resampling another song, or switching next, next song.
The problem is not only with FIIO. Read the forums.
But in FIIO why is it only be heard in one right channel ????

I have both. Switching the songs and also on some soft musics starting at low level. Only on the left for this case. I can try to use the warranty. Not sure if another model would be ok

I can hear that on the right channel. It appeared after some time, not from beginning.
When music is not loud at all? It is not really at the beginning for me, just after. Well, I also have it when changing song.
